Default Old versions of the site

    Nelson,

I was just sitting here and thinking about michaelbay.com... how old is it? My furthest memory go back to Pearl Harbor, but when did the site go live?

And if you have them, would it possible to post some screenshots of older versions of the site?

Doesn't Google keep archives of that kind of stuff?

I remember first browsing upon this site right around Armageddon. Waay before Michael officially "knighted" Nelson as one of the luckiest fans of Bay ever and made this site his official web spot.

    Good times, good times...

How far back was it when this site had the Superman "S" on it? Is my mind playing tricks on me, was I at another bay fan site at the time, or am I showing how far back I go as well?

A very crude version of it (mostly text) went up in the summer of 1997 on some college web server.

The first running site (and I still have the Photoshop stuff somewhere on some Zip disk) went up around the summer of 1998 on xoom.com.

I think by late 98 or early 99 I had the site on shootfortheedit.com.

But I have to to first get a Zip disk reader to get to those files.

Wow, I definitely got a trip down memory lane when I hit the RSS reader this morning! Looks like Nelson added all the old news updates ( before "blog" was ever coined ) to the new design. They are differently fun to check out all these years later. It's cool to see how far things have come.

No major news today. I did get an e-mail telling me how msn.com describes this site :

"Very flashy tribute to the director of such films as 'Armageddon' and 'The Rock' features video clips, a bio, a filmography, and a chat room."

Hey not bad eh? I'll share something with you guys & girls today. Remember when I met Michael at his office? Well, one of the things that I mentioned to him is that I get a lot of "fucking, angry e-mails" from people who hate Bay's work (most of them envious people). And then told him how much "commotion" his name causes when an article appears on AICN. And he asked very puzzled: "Why?" I simply answered: "I dunno. I guess they don't like you or your work." He then told me that the world would be a better place if these people would worry more about the things happening in Turkey (remember, this conversation took place August 31 of this year) than worrying about his movies. Anyway, I just thought I'd share this with you.

I just bought a Zip drive on Ebay so I should have some older stuff as soon as it arrives.

For now, go to the following link and see the different designs under "Site Archives."

I never knew Pearl Harbor got so much press.

I remember when Bay says the same thing how people should focus on issues like Iraq than obsessively hating his work. Same formula, different era. Good times, good times.

    I remember those designs!

This is what I hate about being a webmaster, we change our designs more than we change our socks.

    I don't know what version of jbfans.com I'm on right now... v. 2450646.1?
