The guy who started that blog is an idiot for not paying attention before he even walked in.. You can tell just by looking at the building if it's a real IMAX theater or not. They're more than twice the size of a regular theater.

The presentation of Star Trek at the Spectrum 21 in Irvine, CA last night was terrible. Absolutely TERRIBLE. This confirms what I was so upset about last night!!

They built a new IMAX at the theater I go to. I had to test it out before seeing Transformers because of the "fake" IMAX's. I went to see a movie a while back at an IMAX near my school... it was such a horrible theater, and a complete fake. I didn't want that to happen for my first TF2 viewing.

I'm not a film student so I rely on you guys to teach me the technical aspects of what I'm seeing but it seemed to me that the film did not fit the format. Maybe it was just the way the film was shot but the aspect ratio appeared way off. The picture quality was occasionally substandard and and little black strips appeared at the top of the screen, like giant pieces of electrical tape over Sulu's forehead. What is that? Is that like the tiny little ovals that appear briefly to indicate a reel change or something?

I never got a chance to complain because I don't make stinks in front of my parents (although, part of the reason I'm so nuts about this is because I took MY PARENTS to see an IMAX viewing of Star Trek, which my father has watched from EPISODE ONE) .

Ive seen a film in imax, and ive seen a film in a standard theatre. As far as im concerned, there is no difference. Wow! The same movie can be projected onto a screen 4 times its normal size. So what? If anything, id be upset about my tennis neck.

But with the refusal of the IMAX company to distinguish between 2 vastly different formats and ripping people off because of it - that is just wrong and they should pay for it until they do make some form of signage for its patrons.

Find an IMAX dome. Watch a movie in it. Understand.

My opinion, You're all ungreatful for the fact that you guys HAVE IMAX theatres.

We have one in our entire country.

    Never been.

    Will one day.

Well, it's weird then. The theatre I was in is listed as proper. Very strange... Must be Star Trek, then.... still... hmmm...

I don't know what electrical tape thing your talking of it's unlikely to be the pulsers or a aperture gate. Anyway explanation about aspect ratio, did you see black bars at the top and bottom? Because that's meant to happen because Star Trek was shot in 2.35:1/2.40:1 so it would have to have the black bars to fit in IMAX's 1.44:1 aspect ratio.

I totally agree with the 'ungrateful' part.... we (in Colombia) only have two (both in Bogota) but I don't live in Bogota!!! Hahaahah

Thanks a lot for the list... I actually thought there was only 1 in Colombia hehehe...

According to that list, both of them are "original" Imax theaters.... I wouldn't mind planning a trip to Bogota to watch the REVENGE! in full quality... Imax does make a big difference!!!
