Looks like a TVR design over a Corvette body. But of much better quality. ( Then TVR at least )
A green supercar? Way to ruin it. I highly doubt the price of gasoline will matter to someone spending $150k on a car.
aWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it does the numbers, and delivers the same excitement, how does being "green" ruin a supercar?
IMO "Green supercars" are what is really going to push green auto technology to the edge. Then that tech can trickle down in to our everyday cars in years time. Hopefully not too many years...
Just because one may be rich, doesn't mean they don't care about being environmentally responsible while they spoil themselves on fun toys. If anything, that's a selling point.
"...my heart is turned to stone; I strike it, and it hurts my hand..."
The extra 30k would more then likely be a non-issue to anyone in that price bracket for a supercar.
Besides, how do know know how much extra this being "green" costs this car? And if this car were a run o the mill petrol engine, would we be talking about it? Would it even gain any real attention? Or would it just be lost in the world of small biz super car builders which seem to be popping up everywhere. Pushing green tech in this car is a great business angle for the company. As it is for Tesla.
You can be fast as hell, and still be green. Yes, there is a market for that. If Ferrari, Lambo, or Porsche put one of these supercars out, it would indeed sell no matter what the price. The technology alone is both braggin rights, and historically significant.
One of these just might end up in Jay Leno's garage if the car does indeed deliver on it's promise.
I was going to say Tesla is a good example..
There is an all electric car beating the snot out of gas engine cars..its running 11's right now and maybe 10's very soon...ALL ELECTRIC..
I love my gas engines but I think electric cars might be a great intergration into fast cars. Also electric cars have all the tourqe right off the bat where gas has to build it up..these cars are fast..and this one is hydrogen..thats really cool.
The whole hybrid thing helps with fuel efficiency, but the technology for it is tough, that's why they're so expensive, so AllHailMegatron, let's not get into conspiracies here, lol.
But for me, it doesn't matter because hybrids are still gas powered vehicles. It's time to move forward, like Z28 mentioned above, electric, hydrogen, etc., we have the tech. I'd love to see more Teslas on the road.

Can you really even call this a supercar? From the articles I've read none of this has been proven yet, it's all just speculation. But even if it was, which would be more likely to happen:
a) They buy a 150k "green" car from a company nobody has heard of nor has been proven to do 0-60 in 3.5s and has a top sped of 200+ mph
b) They buy a Lamborghini Gallardo or Ferrari 360 for 100k that has been proven to do what they say it does.
I'm going to bet on the ladder.
Just, speculation, like it's claims of 0-60 in 3.5s and a top speed of 200+ mph. Who is exactly talking about it? It isn't getting any "real" attention. It's just going to fail like Fisker and Tesla.
It would sell because it's Ferrari, Lambo, or Porsche. In the world of Supercars, you would be laughed at if you "bragged" about being "green".
It doesn't matter if the car is terrible, which it is, it might still end up in Leno's garage. Have you seen some of his cars?
If that's the case then it's gonna take time until somebody develops something new and practical. Gasoline is going to become obsolete in the future (maybe 50 years from now, I'm not trying to jump the gun here), but it can't last forever, it's going to be replaced.

wow the car is so cool i like the style
Like I said, IF the car delivers on it's promise. But I don't look at things half empty. Especially before they get a chance to start. I tend to give people an honest chance to deliver what they promise before talk negative about them. If they deliver, then yes, they do have a market. I think your argument that Supercar fanatics laugh at the concept of being green is hogwash. Yea there probably are a few who think as narrow minded as you do. But I doubt you can classify the entire class in that manor. I don't doubt at all that this car could end up in collections right next to prized Ferraris. For these consumers, price is no concern. A car is purchased on style, design, performance, and status.
I think it's hardly a time to say that Fisker and Tesla have failed. It's not easy to create a startup car company, let alone one that breaks ground where little to no one else has ventured into. They are by no means dead. And I wouldn't call either one a failure. Fisker hasn't really started yet and Tesla recently announced a new family sedan model. How's that failure? To me that's progress.
These new groundbreaking type things take time. It's not like the Wright Brothers were able to commercially fly anyone across the country 6 months after the first flight. Someone has to break new ground. Can't get to "green" cars that equal the same connivence and power of a century's development of a gasoline engine without starting somewhere.
Where you see "failure" and "crap" I see progress, evolution of technology, and the developing future of automotives. It's an exciting time. Not one to shrug my nose at even though I can't afford any of these cars in the first place. Breaking ground new ground is not for everyone, but if someone didn't do it, we wouldn't get anywhere. We wouldn't have the WWW. We wouldn't have the computer. We wouldn't even have cars at all.
Not everything in Jay's garage is a car I like or would want. But he does tend to collect cars of significant historical value. And it's good that someone does. Personal collections are subjective after all. What authority do I have to call his collection garbage when I don't know much over half the cars in his fleet? They all have a story to tell. It's not just about performance to Jay Leno. It's about the history.
