Anyone having Playback problems with their Avatar Blu ray??
nope. make sure to update your player's firmware
I've got an LG GGC-H20L BLu ray Drive, but there are no updates of the firmware for it. I have emailed the LG technical support but they have since not replied. Does this mean I'll have to buy a completely new blu-ray drive just for viewing Avatar and future blu ray titles??
I love how I buy a 25 dollar Blu ray movie and get no bonus features good old Cameron Thanks Buddy! At least Bay hooks it up with extra footage and bonus material.
"How Come the Decepticons have all the cool shit"
exactly man. just max out the 50GB disc and throw in another with special features!
Well last year i did got a more upgraded Blu-Ray player for 128 bucks and it works well on the BD version.
If your familar or at least read Dune by Frank Herbert (greatest Sci-fi novels), you'll notice how similar the movie Avatar is to Dune.
Am I the only one who doesn't like this movie? He ripped off every movie ever made, including my beloved Flash Gordon. I didn't get the meaning of the South Park episode about the movie until I watched it. "You can't just take someone else's idea and put your name on it!" ~Stan Marsh
And what's up with the racism? That's the most stereotypical portrayal of "tribal" peoples I've ever seen. While watching I was expecting one of the Na'vi to yell "Aye Carrumba!". And don't even get me started on the shallow, stereotypical characters.
Oh, and the visuals weren't terribly impressive. How to Train your Dragon was MUCH better, and I absolutely adored that movie. I'm sure it was awesome in 3D, but it takes more than flashies and sparklies to get me into a movie.
Do you know "The Matrix" wasn't too original either Drake or everyone? if you all thought that was an original movie, your wrong. It was basically just a mix of "Dark City" (Still superior to The Matrix), Japanese animation, "Ghost in The Shell", "Ninja Scroll", "Akira", "True Lies", Frank Herbert's "Dune" (Novel), William Gibson's Sci-fi novels, "City of Lost Children", "Blade Runner", "2001", "Total Recall", "Robocop", "Terminator 1 & 2", Manga (Japanese comics), Dragonball Z, "Tron" etc. and that was still great much like "Avatar" since both Matrix and Avatar are two masterpieces that maybe unoriginal but they are visually stunning movies.
But does anyone think Avatar is like the 1981 kick-ass animated movie "Heavy Metal" (One of my favorite movies) brought to life? i mean it's also like the adult animated comic book "Heavy Metal" brought to life. Anyone familar with both stuff? if not then if your a comic book fan i recommend this still popular after 33 years adult comic magazine to see why it's so influential and also rent the 1981 animated movie and you'll see how similar it is to Avatar. Both movies appeal to every man's former teenage brain and both even have nice animated babes like Neytiri or Taarna.
Ok ok... I'll admit when I made a mistake. I just saw part of Avatar on a spiffy new 3D TV. The visuals really are spectacular. However... the story still sucked.
But have you seen the following movies similar to The Matrix like Dark City, Akira and Ghost in The Shell? or even read Dune by Frank Herbert?
Special limited edited release of "Avatar".
"Twentieth Century Fox and James Cameron today announced that AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION will be released in theaters August 27, in a limited engagement and exclusively in Digital 3D and IMAX 3D."
"You know why the departures and the arrivals at LAX are on separate levels? So the 30,000 heartbreakers that come here each month don't notice the 30,000 that are leaving with their hearts broken."
avarar was boring and the 3d really started to hurt my eyes but it did look good and the scale of the film was big, made me think Final Fantasy so I hope it opens the door for that starting with FF7 live action.
The disappointing if not pathetic Avatar is 165minutes long and people watched it over and over worldwide only thanks to marketing despite being the worst James Cameron movie ever.
Do you know that is one of the best public rated movies ever in every website where people can vote? Do you know that, in IMDB, it has 1192/2541 reviews which rate it 9 or higher?
Most people I know saw it more than one time, and that doesn't happen when a movie disappoint.
You may have hated it, but people in general loved avatar.
People tend to get a little fanboyish when their favorite director comes out with a new movie. I could tell you some of those votes came from people rating the CG alone and nothing else. Its the same reason why shit like Twilight keeps sweeping MTV movie awards...because fangirls are voting for their favorite actors and has nothing to do with how good the movie is.
And Avatar IS JC's worst movie - IMO, as a story, terrible.
IMDB is a good source to know if people like or don't like a movie. And a good one if you look a bit more than the rating itself: comments, number of votes, votes distribution (for me, this is the key one).
By the way, I don't agree that Avatar is JCs worst movie. For me is one of his bests, along with Aliens and The Abyss.
And, at least in IMDB, Twilight is getting fairly low rates. That means people are not liking it.
Twilight low rates on IMDB are just thanks to marketing employees.. competitors with fake accounts used to vote against other studios products and in favour of their own.
That is the only reason why a movie like Avatar got some high numbers there. It's all a marketing trick.
Avatar sucks. 3D wise it's pathetic (where the heck is 3D effect? More realistic what? Cartoonish as much as useless!). The CGI is just barely average for a console game, absolutely cartoonish, poor rendering, mechanical models just silly, people on green and blue screen easily spotted. If it wasn't for the huge psuedo-ambientalistic marketing campaign millions of adults worldwide wouldn't have spent a fortune to watch it in theaters first and DVD/Blu-Ray later.
What is really pathetic as much as silly is the fact that the majority of those same adults but even teenagers that praised Avatar like it was the best movie ever are the same accusing Transformers1&2 to be childish awful movies and so on and on...
They are sheeps. They follow what marketeers tell them to buy and love without using their own brains even a little bit to properly judge.
Amazon's IMDB rating is absolutely flawed. Studios employees, marketeers with tons of fake accounts invade discussion boards and give votes to alter truth and make their own marketing campaign the truth.. they don't need much more than some thousands fake accounts to achieve the sheeps-follow-orders effect... it's a basic strategy to control the masses.
