Oh! btw!
I know there are logical holes in Avatar's ending. I believe that has something to do with Sam Worthington being signed on for THREE MOVIES. hee hee!![]()

My point exactly.
And let's not forget that "Avatar" was nominated for 4 Golden Globes before its worldwide release!
Why?
Simple - because it's James Cameron and most critics are willing to close their eyes and ignore the "bad things" just because it's James "King of the World" Cameron. It's a totally different story when it comes to a Michael Bay film.
But at the end of the day it doesn't really matter, because personally I like both Bay and Cameron so it's a win-win situation for me.

Anyone else going to see it again today? 6:30 for me.

I'm going to see it tonight at 6:10 in IMAX 3D. Already purchased tickets. I'll also be back in time to catch the Redskins whip up on the Giants. This is going to be a great night.

Why is it so hard for some to tune critics (bad or good) out anyway? Who gives a $#!+? Some of you seem to think this is a new phenomena with Bay/TF vs. whoever? (Insert Bay film here) vs. critics, par for the course.
If you want to look at it that way then it should have been obvious when critics were facepalming left and right, by giving crap like Joe a pass, but not ROTF.
Cameron and co. turned in a fine effort. Piques your interest? Go find out for yourself. Meh? Move on/out of the way, it's that simple. Letting the "buzz" one gets over other factor in, is weak and would be a disservice to this movie. Bottom line.
Tomorrow I'll be visiting Pandora for the 3rd time.
Critics are just annoying. They are proven wrong over and over again. They give a movie 2 stars, the movie makes 500M. They give a movie 5 stars and the movie bombs.

I really feel like it's not even a question of wrong or right, Big. It's all subjective anyway. But more about when some of them try to play the role of tastemaker, and the people that let them. Rather than an all encompassing review that factors in all/many aspects of the film. In some cases, I think they forget that they are reviewing a movie, and are reviewing a book instead.

I never even look at what the critics have to say.. I listen to what real people who have seen something say first. Critic or not..its all personal preference. You can never set that aside and be non-bias. All those highly complimented artsy fartsy films I think are boring and suck... I would rather see something with lots of action..humor.. BIG Explosions ( Bows to the Bay!) and especially fantasy and Sci Fi. I go to the movies to get away from reality for a while.

That's the ticket. I bet you anything, if Michael Bay was to secretly direct a movie and let James Cameron or Steven Spielberg take the credit, critics would praise the movie. It's one of the reasons why I don't take critics or award shows serious at all, they really mean nothing. It's just their opinions on literature and art, and none of it's fact.
While I will watch the artsy films once in a while, I save the big action fests for the big screen, since it's something a smaller screen and home theater system really can't match. Besides, when it does come to movies that require you to pay attention, they are better off watched at home instead of a roudy theater. I went to see Erin Brochovich in the theater, and really didn't understand what was going on with all of the cat calls and ruckus in the theater, but when I watched it on DVD, much better experience. ROTF has the reverse effect, saw the damn thing in the theater 8 times. Bring it home, and it lost it's appeal for me, and watched it maybe 3 times. So far, Star Trek has been my favorite movie of the year, 5 time in theater, and watched countless times once I got it home.
I'm like the same way. I go to the movies to have a boat-load of fun. Sure, I can watch an intellectual artsy-fartsy film and love it, but I usually save those for the home media. If it's got robots, ka-boom, sci-fi, action, adventure, mindless popcorn fun, then it's something that MUST be seen in theaters.
With that said, I can't wait to see Avatar again later this week.![]()

I saw Avatar yesterday and all I can say is wow. Visually stunning and great story line. I will see this again. If you are close to an IMAX theater, pay t he extra 4 bucks. It is well worth it.

I'm really surprised that lots of people have found AVATAR boring!
How on Earth could you find that movie BORING AT ALL??!!
BTW, sorry Bayhem, the movie was actually critically acclaimed:

(And most aren't ass-kissing Cameron either)
Bash me all you want for using RottenTomatoes and MetaCritic as an example, but at least it shows the general picture of the reactions.
Check out the Spill review. They're normal guys and tell it like it is.

I talked to my study hall monitor about the movie yesterday, big geek he is. I overheard him discussing the movie and he saw me and told me to come over.
Me: "So what are we talking about?"
Him: "Avatar."
Me: "AMAZING!!!!!!"
Him: "No."
Me: D:
Him: "It was okay. The story was a bit meh, ya know."
Me: D:
Him: "It wasn't the greatest thing I saw in my life."
Me: "It was the greatest thing I saw in MY LIFE!!!!"
Him: "Whatever."
Me: *runs back to table fake crying*
And I got another nerdy buddy who absolutely refuses to see it, saying he thinks the plot sucks and that the trailers revealed everything anyways.
Okay, so a guy from a technologically advanced civilization finds himself within a not so technologically advanced culture with bows and arrows and he ends up feelings sorry for them and defends them against his old world. Sure, that's been done numerous times. Is that a bad thing? Absolutely not.
What do are these people looking for when they see a movie? A Citizen Kane type of plot? I gotta give a big hand to the average Joes. They go to movies to have fun. I go to the movies to have fun. And Avatar...yeah...that was fun!
MUST...SEE...AGAIN...

We were talking about it last night at work..And the goober jock douche was saying how it sucked ..so I asked when he saw it... he said he didnt..but thinks it still sucks. Thats the shallow minded for you. The person I was talking to agreed with me.. that it has to be one of the biggest must see movies ( I said second because we all know anything TF comes first) Even if you dont care a whole lot for the storyline..the visuals were spectacular.. and I saw them on our tiny screened town theater.

I know, I know and that was my point. But even people who liked the movie admit that the story was not something exceptional or something we haven't seen before. Personally, I have no problem with that because I never expected "the best story or the best script ever", I just wanted to see a groundbreaking visual experience and that's exactly what I got.![]()
Another thing about this movie is that it's very long, but it didn't have me repeatedly checking my watch. there are some 2+ hour movies that could easily have been shortened, but not this one. I couldn't see anything that they could've taken out to shrink the runtime.

Avatar was a lot better than I thought it would be. The 3D was great more the most part. I thought it looked best in the shots where everything (including the background ) was completely in focus because then you got real depth. Could anyone tell me if everything is always in focus in IMAX?
Realism & Anti-Realism sucks.
