I would totally love to see the special edition but I think I can do without the "extended sex scene" they were talking about on the interweb.

That was too cool for words.

Yeah, I'm not too thrilled at the slow rollout either. But in the scheme's defense, it's different every time (not some, in name only, re-release), and nobody is making anybody buy all 3. Although, I'd be less irked had they just released April's Blu concurrently with November's SE, and let everybody have the choice which edition best suits them at the same time.
The set in November will reportedly include another $1 million spent for adding Earth scenes.
Well, if you buy the box set in November, you can sit down, and in a continuous screening of the film, watch it with the Earth opening. It works very well. It just takes a long time to get the movie started. You have to be sort of predisposed to like the movie like a fan, you know what I mean? And then you can sit and you can have a great ride -- a different telling of "Avatar." Not inconsistent -- it's just the stuff that happened off-camera. We call it "the Earth opening." It's about 4 1/2 minutes of stuff. And it was in for the longest time. It was very late in the day that we took it out. I walked in one day and said to my two editors, "Guys, I want each of you to cut a new version of the start of the film, Reel 1, that doesn't have any Earth in it at all." And they looked at me like I was out of my mind. And I said, "No -- it's gonna work." They had to figure out the details. I said, "Just grab a couple of things to use as flashbacks, and start it in space when Jake opens his eyes.
In November, you can buy a box set with all the bells and whistles. It's got like 45 minutes of unfinished deleted scenes that exist in a supplement where you can just play the scenes individually. But it's all a big negotiation with the studios; how much money do they want to spend on these sort of revisionist versions of the movie? Because on the whole Earth opening, the visual effects weren't done, and we had to go back and spend a million bucks or whatever to get those shots done. So there's a price-tag dangling from anything that gets re-inserted. It's not like "Apocalypse Now," where they blow up a Vietnamese village and the footage is done – there are no visual effects after the fact. We've got to go back, and it's our time and our energy and the studio's money to re-create this stuff. But (in November) you'll be able to watch a 16-minute-longer version of the film that's a nice, flowing, cohesive version of the movie. If you just want to wallow in "Avatar" for three hours, I can get that for you.
I already saw the movie and liked it. Why would 8 more minutes make a difference? Plus, the almost sex scene was already uncomfortable to watch the first time around. Even more of it would be a bit unwatchable for me.
They call me Ratchet Girl for a reason. Sometimes Skids girl.
Yeah, I'm a girl...SO FREAKING WHAT????
http://www.youtube.com/user/Taybrian1 I'm a Youtube star! (Not really, I just get bored.)
The footage inserted doesn't really make a difference. Why would people go back to see TF1 in IMAX? Some just want to, and can. It's really as simple as that.
For those that are curious/care to know: It was about a millisecond of extra queue contact added. (the fibers at the end of the braid) I think some were seemingly too busy focused on Na'Vi sex to realize that most of the extra stuff was actually going to be devoted to a couple of action set pieces (Sternbeast?), Tsu'Tey's death (he gets more story), and Grace visiting the abandoned school, among other small bits added here and there. (off of the top of my head). Nothing that people must see per se', just added content for those willing to make the trek again to the big screen.
Didn't bother me, i'm a comic book fan and i have read plenty of comic books mainly some Sci-fi ones for adults and have a few issues of Heavy Metal magazine (The comic book magazine for adults) that show alien sex especially of 2 Dragon-like martians getting it on. I've seen seen a comic where some sexy faceless alien chick who has no hair and face but a drawn hairless brow with a good body got it on with a human.
Any fans of Avatar here didn't buy the barebones Blu-Ray and have to wait for the upcoming final cut Blu-Ray this november?. I mean the bareboned extras-less DVD/Blu-Ray is good for a rental and my mom with stepdad loves Avatar as they own it on DVD but for me, it looked great but the Blu-Ray special edition will be mine.
Anyone seen the movies i mention on the similar movie suggestions to fans?
The Avatar 3D Blu Ray is timed exclusive to Panasonic 3DTVs, so if you have a Sony or a Samsung, you're assed out. Extremely idiotic.

Oh yes Arcee, i forgot to mention for another similar movie you should rent Hayao Miyazaki's Sci-fi/fantasy epic masterpieces "Princess Mononoke" and "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds", two movies that influenced this masterpiece.
Hahaha that's interesting. I always thought that in the movie they were talking about the Mariana Trench. I thought that in English the Mariana Trench (spoken in my language) sounds like Laurentian. I never heard about the Laurentian Trench or maybe it has a completely different name on my language.
It's another thing that I never asked myself the question why travel all the way to the Mariana Trench?![]()
