I'm sorry dude, I have no idea what your talking about.
You still seem confused so let me try to explain clearly.
As of Jan 13th, AVATAR has made this amount of money worldwide: $1,346,805,340
That's One Billion, Three Hundred and Forty-Six Million, Eight Hundred and Five Thousand, Three Hundred and Forty bucks.
Do you see how it has already made only 250million?
It has surpassed that number even after it made a Billion.
Also, how on earth could it pass TITANIC by just making 250million?
TITANIC made this amount worldwide: $1,842,879,955
I think you are getting confused with the decimals and stuff.
PLEASE post back and tell me what's confusing you.
"Science fiction isn't about spaceships, laser-fights, and explosions, Sci-Fi is about placing humanity in extreme positions and examining their reactions and our morality, as well as postulating on our future development as a species and as individuals."
Based on how fast Avatar makes money at this moment, it might not only sink Titanic, but also be the 1st film to make 2 billion worldwide box office. Pretty cool to see Cameron get beat by himself lol
But seriously, some people wont to suicide just because of this film? Come on...
We're a young species. We have much to learn.

despite the buzz on avatar i don't really see it as groundbreaking. maybe on the technical side, it's groundbreaking like the 3d image.
i guess i'm having problem accepting the anime style navi aliens as realistic, maybe cameron intended for the navi to look like anime characters. and for the story, the movie looks like it made use of old movie themes.
and people want to kill themselves because pandora is not real, that's really crazy beyond belief.
I didn`t see it.
(had a very bad year)
It`s so chicken having a guy in a wheelchair just to collect oscars.....
and people complained on it,.
this is what people can`t walk is dreaming about. And then they wake up and can`t do it.
Our world is horrible.
Taking a moment.
when i went to see avatar, no one claps or say "wow" at any 'wow' scenes.
when transformers 1 came out i went whoa that's cool, with avatar i went it's ok. i wasn't taken to a rollercoaster ride like i felt with transformers.
Someone said in this thread because their aren't such worlds and species to our knowledge in your mind you will always think of them as unrealistic. But the detail in them was fantastic, I think that was his main goal considering the underwhelming attempts at animation.
comparing it to cameron's old movies aliens, the abyss. those were very believable. i totally bought those movies. but i wasn't buying the navi because they resembles anime characters. it felt like they were more cartoon characters than aliens, it's the anime style that prevented me from buying into the navi. perhaps cameron intentionally made them look that way. if i saw this movie back in 1999, i could have bought it. but this is 2009/2010. i've seen a string of sci fi movies with ultra realistic effects like spider-man, king kong, transformers. it changed my perspective of what to expect from movies. and the navi feels like a step back in cgi.
but it's only the navi that i have a problem with, when it came to the spaceships of avatar, they were awesome.

Hey guys. Spiderman looks better than this.
1999 age CGI right there.
I have to disagree somewhat. Spiderman was nothing close to this, I presume it is pretty simple to do a CGI character which has the same costume on throughout 3 entire films. If you look at Alfred Molina in #2 you can tell it's CGI a mile away except for close ups, when it is actually Alfred. Transformers is metal, again I presume it's easier to render mechanical moving (basic) metal objects than humanlike beings, King Kong I do agree was done well, Andy Serkis, motion capture and detail in Kong.
For me I don't take interest in any anime so maybe that's why I have an easier time attempting to believe than you do.

From this point, it's gonna take around $423 million to beat Titanic's gross. (if my math is correct, I hate math)
