and from what ive seen from the trailers... it should be better... at the very least visually.

I'm also trying to stay positive because Orci and Kurtzman are involved with Fringe and Star Trek... a great show and what looks like an awesome movie... so theyre definitely capable of penning a great script.

As for character development, maybe Devastator could fall in love with Arcee and climb the pyramid with her in his hand and then fight off jets attacking him to save her... I bet that´s never been done before?!

I know Orci and Kurtzman penned the first, im just saying that it wasnt their best effort and hopefully they churned out a better one this time around.

I dont understand why people use this stance of "oh its an action movie/movie about robots! youre not supposed to expect anything but explosions and shots of megan fox's ass!"...

Without spending all day to explain what i was expecting... lets try to think of the top action movies ever made... if everyone on these forums were to make a list... films like Terminator 2, Die Hard, The Matrix, Aliens, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Kill Bill, Robocop, Empire Strikes Back, and the LOTR trilogy would probably make the list in some order.

All these heavy hitters are very different obviously... in setting, tone, etc. But two things in common. GREAT characters and GREAT story.

in TF... so many characters seemed to have their 5 minutes of screen time... and then inexplicably disappear for no reason. The script was full of plot holes and blah blah blah you get my drift.

My point is, I wanted TF to be up there on that list i mentioned... because I feel that the subject matter is deserving of that kind of treatment. Thats where my bar is set. If you still dont understand... hit up netflix and go watch all those movies in a row... and then watch transformers. I'm sure itll enlighten you.

Common sense folks...first, did you ever read the bio for Long Haul? Second, if you're going to a hospital for surgery would you want them doing it to you while you're awake?

My theory is this...Long Haul brings everything he needs for ol' Megs upgrade, they put him together, THEN they they revive his spark.

that wasn't the approach of the first movie...you will find more of character development and emotion in ROTF ...for example like we've discussed you will see ranking and motive for leadership (megs and ss on rooftop), old alliances, and betrayal; things the first movie couldn't do. Honestly, the first movie is about an invasion of good and evil bots ....some characters you get their personalties and others die fast but your not giving the credit thats due ...I think everyone can tell you personality types of all the auto bots ...but i agree the decepticons had no development except for the hint of blackouts loyalty when he says "all hail megaton"..but to keep this positive, ROTF will be decepticons time to shine and youll get your character development youll see!!!!

i guess you could make comparisons with TF and the Fellowship of the Ring. You knew going in that LOTR was going to be a trilogy... and so the first was meant to get you familiar with things and set you up for the 2nd and 3rd movies. Watching FoTR alone and leaving it at that wouldnt do the subject matter justice... and I guess the same should be said about TF.

Like i mentioned before... the trailer does make the movie look more promising than the first. And even though I feel Orci and Kurtzman let us down with the script... I still have faith in them as their body of work overall is very solid. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I can say I agree there wasn't much character development in the first film...then again for me personally it was more about the nastalgia. I mean, it's transformers. I grew up watching and playing transformers. So the lack of character development didn't bother me, still doesn't. I didn't go to the first film to see anything other than Optimus Prime and company on the big screen.

Plus you have to take into consideration what Bay has already told us, which is they couldn't do a lot of the things they wanted to because of the CGI. Now that ILM has that issue handled I'm sure we'll see more story revolving around the bots.

lmao!!! one thing i was just thinking about is at the end of the first movie when they dump Megs and Blackout, you see Megs has a missing leg and arm right? But yet... and i have said this a lot in the past, he never lost his arm or leg in the last battle. Now here we have him being rebuilt. Why? all he needed was a leg and arm. Oh ya he never lost them so why should he be rebuilt? lol Anyway... thanks Hasbro for once again finding a way to make yet a new toy lol. Now here is the kicker. Blackout never and i mean never lost any body parts and yet we see his body on the ship in a crap load of pieces. Got all that? OK now how does he get rebuilt? Are they going to show the constructicons rebuiling Blackout too. Probably not. Why? Because it is now been rumored that his body is in one piece one the ocean floor. But wait back to the begining... he was on the ship in pieces or did I just miss something? I hope they took all this into consideration and kept with the ending of the first movie at least, cause God knows between the comics and the books that were all ment to tie into the movie and keep to the story, they all contradict one another.

Let us down?....They had to somehow come up with a story for a 2.5 hour movie based on a line of toys and they had to make it so non-fans would enjoy it and not think it was ridiculous... The LOTR movies are based on a novel. It's apples to oranges. The only people that care about real character development in a movie like this, are people who are paid to critique movies.
