Default IMAX, for us who can't visit one

    Heya,

Just a quickie-question. Since I have been reading the interviews with Mr. Bay about Devastator-scenes getting shot with IMAX-cameras, I am really envious of you guys having an IMAX-theatre close enough to visit when RotF hits the screens.

How much is a ticket at a "regular" theatre in the US and an IMAX-theatre respectively? Is there a huge difference (I would gladly pay it anyway if there were anyone close by, but the closest one to us in Sweden would be Switzerland, which is quite a long distance away)?

I pay around 7 or 8 dollars when visiting a normal theater. You're not alone, I can't go to an IMAX.

7-8 dollars? US Dollars? That's half of what we pay here. :P
Interesting though, but the question still remains, whats the cost of going to an IMAX-theater?

I hate Imax for main stream movies the screen is way too big and you scroll your head from side to side, I'd be happier for 1080P Digital Cinema

    Thanks a lot Havoc.

Intersting, it's cheaper to go and see the movies at an IMAX-place than a regular theater here in Swe.
It's not only interesting, it also sucks.
For a ticket to any movie at our largest theater which is neither IMAX nor 3D, in my hometown I pay $14,14 (or 120 SEK).

Psshh.. to hell with this, I'm movin' to the US.

It's $18.00/1,800 yen (for a regular theater viewing) here. To us, the States looks like the heaven for movie-goers.

I live in a bigger city and yet we don't have one. The nearest one, I think, is at the Minnesota Zoo up in the Twin Cities. Why they have one, I have no clue. I think the only person in my family that has seen an IMAX mainstream movie is my sister, and she lives in Duluth. She told me that it's only a couple dollars more compared to a normal movie.

    Hi Johat,

Seems nobody's answered your question yet.

Generally, you are looking at anywhere from a 30%-50% price increase for a Hollywood movie shown on IMAX. (approx $12-$15) vs. the same movie shown in regular theaters ($7-$9).

Rate Variables being: different cities, theater chains, buying online vs. box office, etc.

Havoc seemed to give you prices for a museum based IMAX. ($5-$8) Which, normally only shows your nature, science, documentary pics.

I happen to live in an area where I have all three within a stone's throw. So, I can only speak for those price differences.

    r-type for president.

Thanks a lot. So the prices at an IMAX would be the same as the regular cinema here in Sweden.
A real shame I don't have any trip planned for the US around the same time as RoTF hits the theaters, it would be really sweet to experience it at an IMAX-theater.

    Thanks once again r-type.

yea, digital screens are great, but I still think IMAX is awesome. You can't beat the sound w/vibrating seats. And if you like 3D movies, they're 10x better in IMAX. The field of view is much bigger which helps with the illusion. It's just not the same on a regular screen. You'd have to sit very close to the front to get the same effect.
