I don't think you're reading that right. He fought in "the War with the Decepticons", he didn't fight "with the Decepticons" in "the War". He was always an Autobot. Grimlock invited him to join a team rather than fight solo, he didn't invite him to join the Autobots.

They need to word that better, cause even with an explanation, it still sounds like he was working for the Decepticons to me.

Astrotrain is the most likely for a tripple changer, but springer I would say would be 1 or the other. Using the on the fly scan and some other technology (it can be explained as a technological advancement needed in bots damaged in the cybertronian war to combat flying cons). But using the scan on the fly method to memorize a form and revert to it immediately. So Springer should be one of those attack helicopters we saw in the hulkk and posted earlyier, and as far as a vehicle I would say one of those chevy's Buscemi drove in the island.

basicaly you would chose the chopper first now if its a real bulky chopper you would have a huge car! and if you take a silly little chopper you get a volkswagen beetlish car all in all its realy to difficult to pick both the right mass/size etc
sure you could make him hollow out but the main problem would be the bulk of the chopper body it would be the main car, you can always sort of pull in the tail + rotors then ....what car would you get?...

I agree, no mass shifting. So what about a smaller, tighter attack helo, like the US Comanche? (at only 7,700 pounds, it's about the same weight as a combat Humvee) Although I would be perfectly happy if Springer, one of my favorites, wasn't a triple at all and only turned into a Comanche

OH goodness.. that just gave me the image of Jim Carrey and his slinky going down a long stairwell from a temple and it stopping at the bottom step and him wanting to do it all again.. lol Jim Carrey's voice for Springer?
