man that sucks i would love to see a metroid movie ive always been a fan of that game and i think Bay would do a awesome job with it in his hands!
why does anyone ever think a video game movie is a good idea.

Metroid is the only thing that brings me back to Nintendo. I hope they dont ever make a Metroid movie. Normally movie based (... normally...) on a game suck really bad. ...Really really bad.
Ffs
I've always defended Michael Bay against attacks that his films are full of stupid explosions, girls in underwear and mindless characters... but then he made Transformers 2 and I conceded...
You know, I hate to admit it, but out of all of the video games that could be made into movies, Metroid is the one I want the most. And there is a reason. A good one.
Samus has a tragic and deep past. A past that can only and should only be touched on in the games. A metroid game that followed her from the death of her family, through her training, and through her path of becoming a bounty hunter would ultimately suck. and suck hard. but if done with respect and love, it could make for an awesome movie.
Where metroid would fail as a movie would be if you stuck Samus on a planet and made her fight through pirates, metroids, and verious forms of wild life. That is what makes the movie great, but would ultimately doom a movie... like it did in doom.
see this is why video game movies fail (assuming they were taken seriously in production). People try to take what is great in a video game and put it on the big screen. but video game scripts suck as movies. they are designed to lead the player through twists and turns that would lead any movie goer pulling there hair out screaming "when will this end" most of the time they try to fix this problem by selectively removing bits of the original material. however these bits are loose there strengh without the whole of the game to support them.
Also, in cinema, we follow characters as they struggle through lifes problems. In games, We are the character and it is up to us and our awesomeness to save the day. This leaves many video games as hollow of an event as watching some joe stumble through level after level of a video game. It's not fun, if it's not you.
Which brings me to why Mortal Kombat was an awesome movie. By all acounts the game didn't have a story. It had a primous and it was up to your imagination to create a story; if you chosed. But something MK did have was awesome characters and interesting locations. So there is no wonder why taking those locations and characters and wrapping them around a well thought out plot worked. and worked well.
If they concentrated on Samus as a character and not Metroid as a story, there is no reason why there could not be an awesome and historic Metroid movie.
no reason at all.
