Basically, he's Frankentron.

Rebuilt with parts cannibalized from other Decepticons, Megatron rises once again to lead his army. Though the AllSpark destroyed him once, he can now feel its power coursing through his circuitry. It calls him to seize his rightful place as ruler over the puny planet on which he was imprisoned and destroyed, and from which he will launch his conquest of the universe. Optimus Prime is all that stands between him and victory, and the Autobot leader has done a poor job of hiding himself. At long last, Megatron knows exactly where his enemy is, and he has power enough to destroy him.

Hmmm... Roberto Orci doesn't really answers at the question 'will any of main Autobots will die'... He only says he 'haven't seen the movie'.
Ratchet may die, and/or Optimus, I guess.

Since this movie is going to be decidedly darker, it would not surprise me to see any of the main characters die... or Jetfire "share" his spark with Prime to revive him

That's an idea but - if Megatron have Galvatron's name when he comes back, does Prime have one? I heard he died in 1986's animated movie, but does he come back?

In the '86 animated version, he gave the "Matrix of Power" to Ultra Magnus, the turned gray. Young children cried... Parents got angry, and the G.I. Joe movie had to be re-written and re-animated...

Then... They could kill Optimus in this move, and couldn't revive him... If that happens, the movie will be seriously darker than the first one... An Number 3 would be really interesting. Many things could happen.

Optimus is revived in the last episodes of the 4th season of G1, to counter a rage-plague that threatens to kill off all of the living beings (including Transformers) on Earth. He also gets the respect of Galvatron.

Regarding Megatron returning as Galvatron, I'm pretty sure this won't happen. Since the packaging of the toy clearly states "Megatron" and not "Galvatron". I don't think they will change this.
But I am hoping for these cannibalized parts driving him slightly mad from the sparks of the victims, as well as the proximity of the Fallen and Meg's close encounter with the Allspark.

Ratchet dying won't have an effect (like Jazz in part 1), Optimus on the other hand if he dies it will be more dramatic (darker like Bay is claiming)
