A Sound of Thunder. Awful movie. Looked like it had about a $5.67 budget.

I rarely if ever go to the movies (last movie I saw there was Pirates 3, which I didn't care for...I'm hoping maybe to convince friends to go with me to see Transformers 2, as I now wish I could have seen the first one at the movies...may also be seeing the new Fast and The Furious soon...will just edit post if I do).

Anyways, I also rarely watch movies at home, too, but the last few that I've watched:

-Transformers (I don't seem to ever get tired of this movie...in fact I just copied the movie part of my DVD to my PSP for portable viewing when I have to spend over 2 hours traveling on Thursday...I never could find out if the movie was ever released on UMD, but I don't think it was...I also want to buy the Transformers BluRay 2 Disc collection, as it sounds like the Michael Bay commentary is very interesting and I love commentary like that...)

-Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (my sister's kids actually liked this movie...but I forgot about the kids in it, which is probably what they like...it's an okay movie, but I really only like the action parts...the story is kind of meh)

-Turbulence (I am a sucker for plane movies...it's not as bad as I've heard people say it is, as it did it's job and kept me entertained...that's all I ask for in a movie...if anyone is familiar with the Airport movies, I think it's better then the Airport movie with the Concorde...I didn't like that one at all)

-Cop Land (this movie was okay until the end, which I felt was rushed and stupid...I did actually like Sly Stallone in this movie, though...he plays the smalltown sherriff well, IMHO)

Also, to those of you who have seen the Island, when I first saw it, I didn't even read what it was about. I was on a Ewan McGregor kick and just ended up blind buying it from my local movie store. So I watched it and really enjoyed it, but then I looked at the back of the box and was shocked that they spoil the truth about Lincoln and Jordan right there! I thought it was a lot better of a film if the movie is the one to tell you this, not the box. Did anyone else feel that way?

Just this weekend I saw 2:

"Marley and Me": Loved the first part, but bawled like a baby at the end. I'm still being made fun of for losing my cool.

"17 Again": Very good movie. Zac Efron has definately grown up and is fun to drool at. Plus, I just love body switch movies. I have no idea why.
They call me Ratchet Girl for a reason. Sometimes Skids girl.
    Yeah, I'm a girl...SO FREAKING WHAT????
http://www.youtube.com/user/Taybrian1 I'm a Youtube star! (Not really, I just get bored.)

Sadly, I've only seen about 20 minutes from "The Hurt Locker" - but it does indeed look like a fantastic movie.

Movies I've seen in their entirety, although in one case I wish I hadn't:

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine": No, not the workprint. It was the final theatrical version, even if most of the effects looked like they were still work-in-progress. I loved the first "X-Men", didn't care much about the second and hated the third. This abomination of a movie is way worse than "The Last Stand". One of the worst comic book adaptations in years.

"Star Trek": THE movie to beat for my "Best of 2009"-list. Awesome.

"In Bruges": It took the bargain bin for me to finally take this one home, although it already came highly recommendend. Shame I waited so long, the movie is a small masterpiece.

"The Wrestler": My favorite for 2009 until "Star Trek" dethroned it.

"The Boat that Rocked": Might have been shot without anything resembling a script ;-) , but the soundtrack and Philip Seymour Hoffman alone make it worth seeing.

"Duplicity": Not the worst movie Clive Owen and Julia Roberts have ever appeared in (the honors belonging to "Shoot 'Em up" and "Runaway Bride"), even clever at times - but ultimately a waste of time.

I can understand that, if you played the game (as well as Crisis Core, the prequal for psp) Advent Children is better than if you haven't.
Since noone explains materia or even the connections between the characters it must seem like a bunch of mumbo jumbo to one who isn't familiar with the lore of FF7.

Me myself just got around to see Watchmen (yeah, I know...) so I had a great friday night at the movies.
It is everything X-men wants to be but isn't. I have never read any of the books/comis but I most certainly will now. The character development, the outsider trouble they experience as superheroes, Manhattans godlike abilities, the plot, the twist in the end, the philosophical discussion(s), and it looks fantastic!
All in all a great visit. Can't wait to get it on Blu-ray.

    Plus Malin Åkerman... mmmm....

I guess I should have mentioned 7 was my first RPG (back around '98)? LOL. Still didn't care for AC's story. And even though it's been bashed into oblivion, I like the story in Spirits Within better. Maybe AC's story will grow on me (I've seen the movie three or four times now, though), but for now, I just don't really care for it.

And as for movies I've seen lately: I tried to watch Unbreakable this past weekend...was bored out of my mind in the first fifteen minutes (or so) and turned it off...does it get any better? Or is the rest of it just as boring? His other movies can be meh (Signs was good, the Sixth Sense I had spoiled for me before I ever watched it, and The Village I had figured out in the first ten minutes...).

I also watched The Rock on my PSP Friday night when I was stuck at work (I actually got the movie because it has both Ed Harris and Nic Cage in it...love 'em both, but now I also enjoy it because it's a Michael Bay movie). Still a fun movie to watch (my favorite part is the rocket man part toward the end of the movie...lol).

Ahh, so you are familiar with it.
I absolutely love the game (as well as Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus was a disappointment), and I probably only really like AC because it's about "my" characters, and also showing off Bahamut, Midgar and Sephiroth.
But I agree to a degree (haha!), it's not a great movie, just a sidenote for us FF7-junkies until they re-release FF7 for PS3.

The end totally killed that movie for me. Because of the end, and only because of the end, I have to classify that movie as terrible.

That's because it was an awesome movie, and the only reason it didn't do well, was because it didn't have swords. If it wasn't for that one factor, I bet that movie would have been a breakthrough hit.

    MAJOR SPOILER!

Just curious - what is it about the end that you don't approve of? The fact that he dies? Or the fact that you don't actually see him die?

    *THE WRESTLER Spoiler alert*

What pissed me off so much about the end of that movie, was there was no end. It lacked what Robert McKee calls a "slow curtain." there was no space after the rising action of the climax that allowed me to gather my thoughts. It was like being on a roller coaster, and being magically teleported from my seat at the peak of one of the bigger hills. I have all this anticipation built up inside me, but I did not expiration the down slop. I can imagine how cool it could have been to go down that big hill, but that would never compare to the way it would actually feel going down it.

And you know what, he didn't die. Just because the writers lead us in that direction and got lazy, doesn't mean that's what happens. and that is what this is, lazy script writing. The script writers left something to our imagination that should have been. I mean, just think of all the best death scenes in cinema, and then compare them to the death of the wrestler.

At the end of that movie I was left unfulfilled and confused by that movie, and in turn, entertained. That movie failed me in the biggest way any story can fail someone. It didn't have an end.

Did you want to see him break his neck like Hilary in Million Dollar baby? The biggest fail, would have been to fail at telling a story at all. Did you really want the obvious served to you, by seeing him die alone, or in the ring? Or would you prefer to imagine him going out like he did, doing the only thing he knew how? That is of course, assuming he does die. Which is what I feel this "ending", clearly leaves open for interpretation, certainly don't think it's lazy. I have this suspicion that you would have complained if they had spelled out his demise for you. Suddenly, they would have been imagining it for you. Let Randy have his moment.

    *may contain spoilers*

When this movie ended, I felt unfulfilled, almost to the point of anger. this movie had taken me on one of the deepest emotional roller coasters I have ever been on, and just left me hanging. You are right, when you say a story teller should give everything to an audience, and sometimes the best story tellers know when not to tell you something. But to me the Wrestler had no end, and the end is the most important part.

It all goes back to the slow curtain. this is the time given to the audience to allow them to gather their thoughts. because I was denied that, I left this film confused, but more importantly, entertained. I know it should be my responsibility to connect the dots, but this movie seemed to ask me to paint the whole freaking picture.

Because this movie had no end to wrap up the whole of the story, it was hard for me to find a point to it all. you could say, that this allows the audience to find there own point, but that is the story tellers job.

I can truly say I never want to see this movie ever again. This movie left me sitting in the dark confused and emotionally unraveled. I was not left wanting, rather I felt denied.

the simplest way I can put it is that it's unsettling to end a story on rising action.
