Cool Re: What movies have you seen lately?

Very much anticipating Eagle Eye at the end of this week... hahaha. *bounces up and down and off the ceilings*

Uhm... I just watched P.S. I Love You again. So sweet. And I think the last movie I watched was Walle.

Grr.. I need a good action movie. I've been slacking in the movie watching area right now. Why oh why must I have responsibilities? *sobs*

I went to see P.S. I Love You with one of my friends and we sobbed like...well, girls.

I heart Gerard Butler. Can't wait for RockNRolla.

AHHHHHHHHHH!! What did you think of the Illusionist? Isn't it great? Well... *ahem*... no pressure but I think it's great. Don't see the ending coming off from a million, trillion miles! Hee.

yes, i did love it. I had it in my head to rate this against Prestige, but they are both great in there own rights. I will always be a huge Ed Norton supporter <i get told i look like him ALOT, but i was told that alot more when i was in HS>, and of course you can't go wrong putting Jessica Biel in anything, ever. Very twisty, loved the end, you're right, i didn't see that coming at all.

You will love the movie. I haven't read the book, but I haven't heard any bad reviews of it compared to the movie.

I wonder if RockNRolla will be in IMAX...hmm......that would be lovely. I did see 300 in IMAX and WHOA. Awesome.

Yeah the ending impressed me A TON. And I just saw the Prestige right before the Illusionist. I was thinking that they were going to be the same: I didn't enjoy the Prestige because I thought it was the Illusionist... whoops. :wtfI need to go watch it again.

    The Fall
Picked this up in Blu-Ray (wow). Once again, this is a visually stunning movie, the scope of it, locations, etc. A bit of forewarning, however, if you don't buy (connect with) the relationship with the two main characters of the story, the whole thing will seem like a mess of a movie and even moreso with how it is told and in whose eyes it is seen through. It's a fantastic world seen through the eyes(or in the mind) of a child, while touching on a few themes like innocence and the corruption of it, salvation, etc. The score is great as well. In viewing this a second time, my only comment would be on its length. It felt a bit longer the second time around, meaning it could've been cut here and there to move a little faster. We can go on and on about how Tarsem might be overrated and whatnot, but there is no denying the guy has got an eye for stuff like this. Recommended, now that it is widely available on video. (as opposed to the limited theater run it got here in the states)

    Speed Racer (Blu-Ray)
I still feel like this one got a bum rap. Chalk it to crumbling under Matrix Follow-Up hype. It's a simple story drenched in living cartoon color. It's a complete 180 from the dreary green-filtered, hit-you-over-the-head philosophy fests that were The Matrix movies. Story is basically a david vs. goliath, underdog, indy vs. corporate, boy and his car story, with over-the-top visuals. The dialogue can be a little flat at times, and also may suffer from being longer than it needs to be. But the races more than make up for it. Yes, it's car-fu, but the lack of true physics is a product of the world that it exists in. On a technical level, this is a reference quality movie if you ever wanna show off your set up. On the negative side, you will feel what it is like to have an epileptic seizure. (j/k)

So I rented "Speed Racer" for my dad to watch -- he generally likes all things like you do (and my mom leaves the room when I put on a lot of the stuff for him to watch)... but Speed Racer, 30 minutes into the film and he asked if there was something else he could watch and deemed this an animated nightmare. I put on "The Mist" but that was just a bore (had that one figured out in the first act, etc.). So, this one goes into the same column as "I am Legend" and "Cloverfield." (Waste of time/money, i.e., awful.)

Everytime I watch such scenes with overturned 18-wheelers in movies, I wonder "Hey, is that a nod? Or sarcasm?"

I saw Speed Racer the other day, I LOVE that film!!!

It was a bit too cartoonish here and there, but all in all, Great fun movie, good actors, good story, even the filmmakers delivery was dead on with there visoion, regardless of how odd and at times silly there vision was.

The racing was over the top and too cartoonish at time's, But I gotta buy that movie.

Casino Royale...I thought the story line was a bit slow and was surprised by what little talking Daniel Craig had throughout the movie. The interrogation on the ship damn near made me cry. It was by far the most twisted thing I have ever seen on film. I'd rather have someone rip out my finger nails or teeth with pliers!

During Honors English we read Arthur Miller's play The Crucible and then watched the film adaptation. And I must say the movie was great, especially Daniel Day-Lewis as John Proctor.

Finally got around to watching some movies again - vacation be thanked.

"You don't mess with the Zohan" - I literally laughed tears.
"Eagle Eye" - Plot holes big enough for several other dumb action flicks, nonetheless very enjoyable.
"Body of Lies" - The complete opposite: Intelligent at heart, well-direct and -played, but utterly dispensable
"The Incredible Hulk" - Ok, but doesn't hold a candle to "Iron Man" or "The Dark Knight
"The Love Guru" - Better than expected. Still...
"Religulous" - Hilarious. And, at the same time, sad.

I saw Death Race with my bf on the weekend. It was better than I thought it would be. But then, any movie about anything motorized and/or computerized is fine by me!
    Death is logically necessary.

Gotta disagree with you there TB. I feel like it really stumbled in key areas for me to take it down a notch. The movie surpasses the first in visual goings on, sans the Hellboy Hears a Who misstep during the flashback in the beginning. But went nowhere storywise, better put, went everywhere. Yes, the characters are outlandish, but it still felt scattered. Almost as if they let DelToro do whatever he wanted (since the franchise was picked up by Universal), but ran out of time to flesh out the story. I'm renting (before I buy it) the Blu-ray this week to re-watch it so I can see if my feelings have changed/softened.

Although I did like Johann Kraus.

you know the movie wasn't about proving or disproving evolution or creationism, right?

    That website assumes a lot.
