But not Cloverfield yet. So, I saw The Golden Compass and Enchanted with my daughter yesterday.

The Golden Compass: Damn ice bears! (Personally I felt this movie was not my cup of tea)
Enchanted: After watching this movie, my daughter has been laughing at me like,

"Mom, I bet you'd sing this song to that huge poster like ~Does he need lips? Of course! He doesn't need battlemask!~ hee ha ha!"

I WANT HER TO STOP IT BEFORE I TURN INTO AN EVIL QUEEN.
LMAO...you should build a window frame around the poster so it looks like Prime is outside and checkin you out in your bedroom

    Just curious.

And Platoon is a great film.
PTSD? (post traumatic stress disorder) Not saying 'cade has that, but maybe the doc was prescribing that as a precaution?

I know my bro-in-law couldn't go to malls, anywhere there were large crowds, or even go out to see fireworks when he got back from service.

    Back on topic:

Damn, I haven't gotten around to see No Country, it's becoming more apparent (from what I'm reading here/elsewhere) that its not all it is cracked up to be from the promos. I'm still gonna watch it.

Gonna go pick up I Am Legend today.

Just saw Kiss of the Dragon again (been a while), good Jet Li movie.

Ah, yes, of course. Thanks for explaining there r-type.

I Am Legend is good....of course I love Will Smith movies.....but durn, this movie...just....the CGI is crap. Lemme just say that.

My son said the exact same thing.

Back on topic.. Is "No Country for Old Men" just so-so?
My grandmother likes the Coen brothers movies, so I was going to take her to the movie.

I'm pretty sure that THIS Coen-movie is not really something your grandmother would enjoy... I for one love it. The Coens seemed to have lost their touch with "Intolerable Cruelty" and "Ladykillers" but this is a return to form for them, even if "Fargo" still ranks as my favorite.

The Big Lebowski is the best Coen movie, imho. I was bored with No Country.

Gone Baby Gone - Great movie. The ending is fantastic.

Hitman (unrated) - Best way to see it. The extra footage added and the special features with alternate ending and cut scenes make it a good buy. BTW the alternate train scene would have made the movie just like any other video game adaption. I like the sword fight one better because it keeps the film alive and more action oriented.

I haven't seen that one...but I must say I enjoy Fargo and O Brother Where Art Thou.

Thanks for the info about No Country.
Seems like my grandmother would like it. Because her faves are Fargo, Miller's Crossing and Blood Simple. (She loves somber and violent films noir.)

I saw Atonement last night. It blew me and my brother away with the acting, the plot, and the cinematography.

It was kind of hard to follow because it jumps around, but if you stick with it, you'll figure it out in no time.

I highly recommend this movie, especially for any history buffs, such as my brother and dad.

Oh, just finished the Brothers Grimm. Terry Gilliam is one quirky dude. But it was a fun movie, and one I hadn't seen before. I do enjoy his Time Bandits though.

    Southland Tales

    W T F

It's the kind of movie where the plot will make sense to you on a random day about a year after you've watched it.

Read: Strange movie that will take multiple viewings to understand the subtext of all that is being thrown at you.

It was a cool looking movie, but the narrative is whacked.

Dan in Real Life: Nice romantic comedy, nothing new but much better than usual. Steve Carell is nearly god.

I love love Steve Carell. He was great in Little Miss Sunshine, kind of out of his comedic range, but still great.

    The Mist

Its a little heavy-handed with the "parallels for society" angle at times, but it still had its moments.

Yeah I don't know what I would have done if it came to that. Not how I expected it to end. I liked how it ended as well.
