the moves seem really fake too me. Maybe it will be better in context.

Looks ok, this movie has a shitload of negativity surrounding it, but I think it might turn out ok.

It looks very over the top. I'm not sure I mind that in this kind of movie, although doing something over the top can very easily turn out really, really, bad (Charlie's Angels). The CGI, however, looked, well, very CGIish.

The cartoon and the toys, though, were also completely over the top, so I guess it fits.

I have to admit, as a kid, I owned damn near every G.I. Joe toy that came out (although I never had the 7 ft. aircraft carrier, sigh), and was much more into G.I. Joe than Transformers, so this movie has a certain appeal for me just from that.

However, I'd much rather see a G.I. Joe movie in the hands of someone other than Stephen Sommers, like Bay (of course), or Tony Scott, Dominic Sena, or other directors that have been associated with good "over the top" movies.

    lmao.ok now I get the other thread,lol...

Well the cartoon like transformers was way over the top...I think if they tried to make gi joe realistic, it would be kinda defeatist to the concept of what gi joe was.some things looked totally cgi,but I don't mind in a flick like this. look at superman good movie but obviuos cgi at times.
    I'll check it....

I think you guys misunderstood my use of "fake"

In "I am Legend" all of the wild animals were CGI, and notably so, but it fit. It didn't look fake

In "The Life Aquatic"; same thing, but it didn't look fake.

it was painfully obvious the creatures in these films were not real, but they worked. All I was saying is the flipping and movements didn't seem to fit. As I said, my opinion may change with context.

you know, it's probably cause i'm using the word "fake" wrong.

I think the movie will be lucky to finish in the top 5 action movies of 2009...but I am still going to see it on the big screen.

I agree I think you misused the word fake, lol. I mean to say that is; I think the flipping and jumping through bus windows looked cgi fake too... However so did spiderman at times. It did well. Also gi joe was over the top in some of it's cartoon action sequences. Also some sequences in tf also looked kinda cgi fake. But at the moment I guess thats the best they can do. Oh in I am legend the vampire things looked totally cgi fake. and even the animals I think looked cgi fake... hopefully the movie will be able to draw you in make it so we don't focus on that....Oh

No problem, you needed at least 3 times to explain yourself.

I have to admit, that trailer shot with all of them walking down the hangar does look like shit. Where's Bay when you need him.

On the other hand, that shot - similar to IronHide in Transformers jumping over a rocket - does it for me.

I put this movie at the same level of Fox produced features like the Fantastic 4. Not a good sign, and I certainly do not expect anything spectacular from this one. But visualy speaking, it may have some nice stuffs to deliver...

    ... I do mean some.

It'll be quite a fun action/adventure flick I think. This teaser is ok, but perhaps they shouldn't have put it out at the same time as the ROTF teaser, or even the new Star Trek one. Considering how much the FX suffer in comparison.

true, however My brother was the kid that got all the G.I.Joe toys as a kid togeather we had an arsenal that made us the envy of town...I know it's definitly not gonna be up there with tf, but I would like to see it, up there... I will definitly go see it. they got a fan here.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong I'm looking forward to it aswell I consider myself a GI JOE fan too (even though it was called Action Force here in the UK).

By all accounts and purposes it has a good script, mostly good casting, and Sommers is competant at physical effects. The only thing that has me worried is rubbish CGI which Sommers does have a history of, and this trailer shows signs of too.

However if it's entertaining and fun most will forgive bad cg, like we forgave the first two Spider Man films.
