    Default President Obama

Today, January 20th, 2009, 12:00 noon EST, Barack Obama took the oath of office as the 44th President of the United States of America.

I have made this thread not to start a debate, not to discuss politics, but to honor our new Commander-in-Chief, and wish him the best of luck in the coming years.

I want to thank President Bush for his service to this country. Though most of us may not approve of what he has done during his administration, I think as Americans we should salute our former president and the former presidents before him out of respect.

I can't help it bro; I've gotta go there.

I have a few observations that bug me:

-2 parties to represent the awesome diversity of a country like this... you'll never get an accurate representative of the people.

-NO ONE, no matter their political prowess, will come up with an idea so new, so revolutionary that it will change our country as we know it. It's become a group of elected officials that line pockets and care/know very little about the average life.

While the most accurate representation of the populous was chosen to lead we got swept up in the moment and didn't analyze him fully. I don't know my point, and don't think I have one, but there is just so much uncertainty for me being 23. This is the man who will most likely be in office when I'm 30... and will control our collective fates. Maybe it's my age and the economy, but he is either the perfect choice to mold into a great leader through experience, or this is a trial by fire that will go down in flames.

I can go on about things like that bail outs, Obama's economic plan (or lack there of), but talking to people who are 20 somethings either are of the opinion that they voted for Obama because he was new, or because they liked what he stood for. The idea of Barack Obama seems to be what everyone is gravitating towards. I just hope we haven't made a mistake.

I voted for Obama, and I hope that you guys took the time to read and at least understand where I am coming from. It's a time in our history where our country is teetering on the edge of a precipace; we have no idea how far down it it leads. With the bailouts coming out towards the motor companies, and a "stimulus package"... come on... it's to give us money to spend and take our minds off how bad this could get.

The company I was with this passed summer was cut from 33 to 11 actors... and the trend is the same everywhere I audition. Troubling times...

I was being completely un-serious.....as I generally am. I figured the joke would be laughed at and dropped.

I know what your were trying to do and I agree. Right now we all need to keep our heads together and press on through this. No matter what, Obama has a way with words and it's hard not to get excited for us as a nation even though it's going to be difficult.

In a time of a tough economy and so many things stacked against us......two weeks from Sunday we'll forget about it all....for either 30 or 60 seconds.

Oh and far as the stimulus....I needed an excuse to buy all the movie bots again

I watched pretty much the whole thing on TV. One thing I noticed about his inaugural address was his tone. In his usual campaign speeches, though very charismatic, he was upbeat. This, however was different. His tone sounded more serious and direct and more presidential. Hopefully this tone will resonate through his job as president.

I just noticed a headline about the honeymoon being over (MSN)...

Dow falls 332 as stocks rain on Obama's parade

Obama's message of hope collides with intensifying worries about the health of the financial sector: State Street plunges more than 50% on a weak forecast; Wells Fargo drops nearly 24%. But IBM earnings and outlook cheer the Street. Fiat takes a stake in Chrysler.

I sometimes wonder if the media isn't generating some of this along with Chicken Little and thereby becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. People need to put the thinking caps on, get back to work and shut up. And I'm taking my own advice and doing just that. Ciao.

WOW BRO!!! I know some people dont like where our government is now or was then or what the fuck ever but for someone to get on here and openly say our now commander and chief be assassinated is way out of line. Something like that is something you really should keep to yourself. Shit like that will just start a crap load or trouble. I agree with Trail on this one. That really was not called for and this thread needs to be locked.:wtf

Actually, before the thread is locked, I am sorry for being a total asshole.

I really don't wanna see him assassinated, but really don't want him running this country at all. As far as saluting past presidents, well, you loose a dozen friends over sea's in iraq, over a war more meaningless then Vietnam, then see how much respect you have for the past rulers.

But Obama... too many people trust him cause he smiles and say's the right things. But he has done NOTHING yet. And still, everybody gives him praise, for what? He wasn't even born here!!!
    Yeah Obama, he's black...?:wtf

Dont close your thread cause one guy pop's up like an asshole, ...

That's my opinion, and I look forward to reading others opinions, but bring up politics or religion, praising one side as you did, there will be out lashes.

Very sorry for my ignorant out-lashing trails,

    E_F

EDIT: As far as Obama dying, That was a FUCKED up thing to say... I don't wanna see that, but I really don't wanna see this Nation continue it's path of presidential brain washings either, which happened before he even got elected... Don't close your thread cause of one persons foolish outlandish reactions. Sorry for that.

I was trying to be American and patriotic. I don't know why you have a problem with that. Yes, Bush sucked, but hey, I salute him because he inspired me to become the next Frank Caliendo.

As for Obama, sometimes the new kid on the block with the new ideas might be the one we need. Give the man a chance!!! He just got sworn in!

Reality Check, he was born in Hawaii, AFTER it was admitted to the union.

And I was never praising ONE side. If you noticed, I was trying to be non-partisan. I have put my partisanship aside and I am putting my full support behind this man. He might just get us out of this economic crisis. BTW, when Bush first became president, I actually liked him at first (I was 8 years old). I was wrong, but it could be different for Obama. Again, GIVE THE MAN A CHANCE!!!

thats the problem... you see it as Trail praising a side. The guy is our commander and chief. At this point he isnt a side. He just is. Trail wasnt praising him because thats who he wanted to win but was praising him becase he is our Leader. Im past military myself and ya i agree that past leader had our men and women in places we shouldnt have been but they were our leaders and now Obama is so as our leader i will respect him and follow him untill he gives us a reason not to. For all we know he could end up being the best leader we have ever had. So please think about what we say in reguards to things like assassinations on our current leader heads.

^^Indeed, I will give him a chance, and so should you, don't support him with all your heart and soul, you don't even know him! That's blindly believing in him cause there is no one else to believe in. That, IMHO, is why this country fails economically, too many people will give a blind vote.

Kinda like the hot blond, she may be dumb and evil, but she looks good, until you get to know her. Nobody knows Obama, but all praise him cause he is supposed to be fresh.... I try and counteract by saying what I think of the situation... which does indeed make me wrong for it...

But all in all, people, stop praising him, and making collectors coins for him, wait till he earns it! That's all I am saying, he hasn't done shit yet, so why does everybody act like he just saved the world?

And nooo, he, by law, was NOT born here in the states!!! Wiki is wacky!

EDIT: And yes shadow, I agree to a point.... BUT.... I will NOT praise a president I don't believe in!! Just because he was elected by naive people desperate for a change, doesn't mean I have to except him until he does wrong. For me, he has to start doing right before I can say he's okay. Just cause the man has done NOTHING at all, let alone good or bad, doesnt mean I will follow him blindly into war like the rest of the U.S. That's how we got fucked over by Bush!

I aint tryin to prove anything to anyone. Just sayin what I know, funny,I tell you something, you immediately ask for proof, Obama makes a statement, and it is the truth simply cause he could afford a good campaign....:wtf

EDIT: I understand patriotism, and for the longest time believed in it, but it IS indeed a virtue of the vicious. I dont stand for our national anthem anymore, if you choose, salute your empire if you choose, I for one will not salute imperialism nor do I believe in what this country does anymore.

As for Obama, it aint even him, as I said, he is a puppet, congress runs this country, not one single man. It will probably be the same old shit. Just a different face. But as I said before, I am sorry for VERY unreasonable harsh words against a man who has'nt done anything wrong - keeping in mind, he hasnt done anything right either.

Actually, you were off topic saying he was not born in the states. But for me, I don't give a crap where he was born. I just want to see him do well. I can't make any judgments on his administration at this point, because they haven't even began partying LOL, but hopefully, he will fulfill his promises.

Trail let it go... like Firefrost said this thread will probably be gone in the morning so there is no need to continue with this. Can we get back to fighting over things like if Megatron will be back and what the Fallen stands for... lol This thread is at this point not worth it!!!!

Honestly Trails, I agree with you there....

I'll wait and see what comes of this man, I just don't like seeing him getting as much love as JFK when he hasent even made a first act yet. That's my main beef!

As for his legal stature, gimmie some time and I'll post it.

EDIT: If shadow and fire don't like this thread, dont post in it.
