    Default President Obama

Today, January 20th, 2009, 12:00 noon EST, Barack Obama took the oath of office as the 44th President of the United States of America.

I have made this thread not to start a debate, not to discuss politics, but to honor our new Commander-in-Chief, and wish him the best of luck in the coming years.

I want to thank President Bush for his service to this country. Though most of us may not approve of what he has done during his administration, I think as Americans we should salute our former president and the former presidents before him out of respect.

I have a few observations that bug me:

-2 parties to represent the awesome diversity of a country like this... you'll never get an accurate representative of the people.

-NO ONE, no matter their political prowess, will come up with an idea so new, so revolutionary that it will change our country as we know it. It's become a group of elected officials that line pockets and care/know very little about the average life.

While the most accurate representation of the populous was chosen to lead we got swept up in the moment and didn't analyze him fully. I don't know my point, and don't think I have one, but there is just so much uncertainty for me being 23. This is the man who will most likely be in office when I'm 30... and will control our collective fates. Maybe it's my age and the economy, but he is either the perfect choice to mold into a great leader through experience, or this is a trial by fire that will go down in flames.

I can go on about things like that bail outs, Obama's economic plan (or lack there of), but talking to people who are 20 somethings either are of the opinion that they voted for Obama because he was new, or because they liked what he stood for. The idea of Barack Obama seems to be what everyone is gravitating towards. I just hope we haven't made a mistake.

I voted for Obama, and I hope that you guys took the time to read and at least understand where I am coming from. It's a time in our history where our country is teetering on the edge of a precipace; we have no idea how far down it it leads. With the bailouts coming out towards the motor companies, and a "stimulus package"... come on... it's to give us money to spend and take our minds off how bad this could get.

The company I was with this passed summer was cut from 33 to 11 actors... and the trend is the same everywhere I audition. Troubling times...

WOW BRO!!! I know some people dont like where our government is now or was then or what the fuck ever but for someone to get on here and openly say our now commander and chief be assassinated is way out of line. Something like that is something you really should keep to yourself. Shit like that will just start a crap load or trouble. I agree with Trail on this one. That really was not called for and this thread needs to be locked.:wtf

You just banned yourself and I'm locking this thread.

If you don't like Obama, fine. But don't come with these type of comments and expect to get away with it.

I was being completely un-serious.....as I generally am. I figured the joke would be laughed at and dropped.

I know what your were trying to do and I agree. Right now we all need to keep our heads together and press on through this. No matter what, Obama has a way with words and it's hard not to get excited for us as a nation even though it's going to be difficult.

In a time of a tough economy and so many things stacked against us......two weeks from Sunday we'll forget about it all....for either 30 or 60 seconds.

Oh and far as the stimulus....I needed an excuse to buy all the movie bots again

I watched pretty much the whole thing on TV. One thing I noticed about his inaugural address was his tone. In his usual campaign speeches, though very charismatic, he was upbeat. This, however was different. His tone sounded more serious and direct and more presidential. Hopefully this tone will resonate through his job as president.

I just noticed a headline about the honeymoon being over (MSN)...

Dow falls 332 as stocks rain on Obama's parade

Obama's message of hope collides with intensifying worries about the health of the financial sector: State Street plunges more than 50% on a weak forecast; Wells Fargo drops nearly 24%. But IBM earnings and outlook cheer the Street. Fiat takes a stake in Chrysler.

I sometimes wonder if the media isn't generating some of this along with Chicken Little and thereby becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. People need to put the thinking caps on, get back to work and shut up. And I'm taking my own advice and doing just that. Ciao.
