    Default TRANS-YAWNERS vs. TERMINATOR SALVATION

in recently snarking terminator salvation, poor mr. bay sounds exactly like hillary clinton, when she saw her primary hammerlock being shredded by obama- "ENOUGH with the big rallies and the flowery speeches! it's time to GET REAL!!".... his movies are bloated crap, and his take on transformers has 2 fatal flaws: the pathologically winky-smarmy-kitschy-cutie Shya laBeef (who makes the matthew broderick character in Godzilla look like a royal shakespeare co. a-lister), and his inevitable use of hipster-ironic comedy set-pieces and dialogue to lighten the mood. these corporate hacks don't realize something fundamental- just because their coveted target demographic is approx 16-35 years old, does not mean that the film HAS to contain big heapings of clever adult swim/youtube "ironic dialogue" moments or setups. everybody in LaLa land believes that mtv has so trained young minds, that no film geared toward a young group can be played completely straight, completely serious, or without hipster tropes. well, mssr. bay, here's a thought- THE DARK KNIGHT. let's match the grosses of your "CGI-with-loveable-schlub-and-hotty-girlfriend-part-two" against this timeless epic. additionally, in all likelihood, TERMINATOR SALVATION will play out within a dark knight vibe- relentless, stark, and packed with real emotion and drama.

Just when you thought HD Dvd fanboys were bad.....

    ..in come the Terminator ones.

You speak as if Bale is directing. Yet fail to name drop the Charlies Angels auteur that is McG.

Proves my point about Michael saying 3 words about something, followed by the hilarity of reading waaay too much into things.
If it doesn't matter what Michael says about Terminator (which was implied) why so defensive?

For the record, I love Terminator and am looking forward to T:Salvation.

Same here. Looks kickass, but for me, they are both completely different different kind of movies so saying "so and so is better" is out of the question.

I'd like to see a Michael Bay directed Terminator movie.

Actually, I really like to see it!!!
I've always defended Michael Bay against attacks that his films are full of stupid explosions, girls in underwear and mindless characters... but then he made Transformers 2 and I conceded...

Your not just saying this because Christian Bale is in it are you? Just jokeing.

Personally, after feeling abit disapointed with T3 I'm not sure what to make of Terminator Salvation. And you a judgeing TF2 based on what? That the first film wasn't like The Dark Knight? The Dark Knight was a great movie, but if every director copied that style, It would become boreing. No doubt Salvation will be stark and relentless and thats how it should be, But to say it will be better than TF2 without even viewing the film's teaser trailer is a bit of a stretch.

Yeah I think it would be an okay movie but I'd rather see Transformers with Transformers and Terminator with Terminator.

His opinion would be good if and IF..the movies were out and we could judge them..based on past product..then the last Terminator sucked..You could cut it into a 45 min TV movie and it would play out better. TF was a good movie...

and about TF..personally I think he had a point of this next one does not need to set up who or what is going on and who the bots are..the silly parts yes I actually agree were a bit to much..but to say go as far as TDK..thats pushing it..an ICON like Batman..vs. what is a popular toy line gone balistic? Batman can be either grown up or kids movie..remember the bat nipples??

Hmmm...Autobots vs. Skynet..now that would be good..got me thinking..

I can see what your saying about the flaws in Transformers... but how easy is it to actually pull off a movie that introduces giant freakin' alien robots to earth?

I'm sure the second will clean up some of the little things that were inevitable to add more for some of the long time fans that were upset.

agreed...but what I would like to know is..the deep dark freezing temps of space..and Megatron gets caught up in ice on earth??? huh??:deadhorse1:
Thats where they need spaceships..I could see the autobots arriving in ships and transforming into "landing pods" to get to earth..but not fly through space..no matter how advanced just makes it more singular..and not like a military or group effort that would need a ship..

Perhaps the solid rock-like shields they were encapsulated in has something to do with their safe arrival. When Megs broke free he was surrounded by ice and snow many meters below in a glacier of some sort, or whatever was there back in the day he got trapped.

the way the comics worded it, it almost sounded like going form cold to hot to cold sent his systems into shock and ultimately into failure. why melting they ice brought him out of it, I have no idea. why could cold paralyze Bumblebee, I have no idea. why Megatron was killed by a teenager, I have no idea.

    Bay, want to step in?

Megatron never used a protoform to traverse space he didnt have to, because of how his system was. I believe he was the only one that could traverse space like that everyone else had to use a protoform, and maybe starscream too cause he also left earth without going into protoform. As far as the ice thing trapping Megatron, well when he entered earths atmosphere he was supper hot, when he landed at the north pole he never been on ice before. The ice instantly melted out from under him when he landed then it flash froze him when he went into the ice

I guess when he is awake his system is in a fast motion of regenerating.

    (Quote's from guide book)

"Megatron can self repair most damage sustained to his internal systems or external armature, almost instantaniously. He is very hard to injure, let alone render inactive."

"Megatron is powerful beyond measure. Possessing an internal, self regenerating dark mater core of unknown (possibly alien) origin."

"Megatron's hull is made from a carbon dirative that absorbs energy, enabling him to enter a planetary atmosphere without shielding"
