Just a thought about the plot...we know the constructicons are in it, made up of construction vehicles (duh). Maybe they're in it to dig up the fallen? They bring the fallen back from being buried by the pyramids. During the time the pyramids were being built, the egyptians may have come across a buried "Sand giant"...and it scared them so much they included the fallen into their heiroglyphs...
