2012: The War for Souls

Anyone have any updates on this planned movie? Last I read/heard Bay is doing it. Is it in any stages of pre-production? Anything?

Isn't this the movie which now Roland Emmerich (the only director out there besides Bay who knows how big budget blockbusters have to look - and he's German!) does? (Or is that still another project)
Whatever, Bay probably won't do anything different until T3 is completed.

Well Michael Bay knows Transformers will always make heaps more money so he is staying where the money is at and not risk losing the Directors chair of any of the Transformers.

I heard that the War for Souls project hadn't begun production yet? I'm a little dissapointed to hear that MB would consider making a movie based on this book. Who would see a movie about the apocolypse where the world is taken over by alien lizards?! Roland Emmerich's screenplay is closer to the mark, but it's still a little far fetched that mankind is saved by floating off into the sunset on an ark??? However, reports did say that MB was planning on using "some" of the book's plot. Maybe he will loose the lizards?

Either way, we all know that MB is gonna make a better movie anyway. And I think Roland Emmerich is a little premature on the November 09 release for this project. I would release closer to the actual predicted time to increase suspense. I think he was trying to beat everyone to the punch.

I might be a little jaded because I wrote a screenplay about the 2012 prophecy and just found out that it was already being made. Not to mention that it is being filmed by the two biggest action directors right now. All that research I did about the movie and I never saw anything about someone else at work on the same project. My story is based more on a blend of history, prophecy, science, and religion wrapped up in a big action package. I guess it's all kinda pointless now.

Last I remember, Bay wasn't making this film. For one thing, it's practically another clone movie (time travel, dude hangs out with himself, etc) an I seem to remember something about him already doing that and how there was a bit of hair-ripping involved.

Emmerich's film got pushed back.

As for you, don't stress. Never judge yourself in relation to what other people are doing. It will only make your head explode.

Are these quotes official? I'm not familiar with who Roberto Orci is? I'm glad to hear that MB isn't going to use the War for Souls plot for his 2012 film. Alien lizards.........really? It sounds like Bay has scrapped the project all together from this quote? Is that accurate?
