Top Gear has recently become my favorite show. I dislike how critical they are of our cars and our society, but they are awfully damn entertaining and damn good drivers. Plus, they test-drive some insane rides!

NBC originally bought the rights to air an American version headlined by Tanner Foust, Adam Carolla and Eric Stromer. However, it was reported last week that NBC has passed and will not be airing the show. The BBC is now looking for a cable channel to purchase the show that had a few segments taped over the summer.

Bottom line, the show will never do well in the US. Our television channels rely too heavily on sponsorship money. And no one is going to sponsor a show that will potentially rip on their product.

And I must say, I am relieved. I love listening to Adam Carolla...but I certainly don't want to take auto advice from him. Perhaps Leno will include regular car segments when he begins his new show in '09.
