Thread: Tony Stark vs Bruce Wayne

  1. #1

Default Roided up billionaire with some cool toys vs Weapon Genius in an Indestructable Suit

Am I the only one who thought that Tony Stark made Bruce Wayne look like an amatuer?

The Iron Man suit compared to a rick kid who hits the gym and has lots of toys? Easy - Iron Man would kick his ass!

(I actually like Batman better, the comics and character are better. I just think the superhero aspect is better)

As far as the characters go, Tony Stark seemed more down to Earth than Bruce Wayne. When I saw both Iron Man and Dark Knight, I found Stark a more likable character.

I agree that Tony Stark was more likable, but Bruce Wayne, if done correctly in my book, isn't really a likable character. He is the "dark" knight, after all. The "anti-hero". Bruce Wayne doesn't like being Batman; He does it out of necessity. Tony Stark is Iron Man out of necessity too, but as the last lines of the movie suggest, he "has fun" being Iron Man.

I tend to feel that Bruce Wayne is more of a tortured soul, due to the circumstances of his parents death (as in the first movie, he felt he was responsible for his parents death). Plus he witnessed it.

Tony Stark, while certainly tortured physically and has to deal with the guilt of all of his weapons being used for mass murder, can probably separate himself from that trauma a little easier than Bruce Wayne.

I don't mean to overanalyze comic book characters, although that's probably what I did.

I liked the depiction of both characters in each movie; I thought each was done well. Both movies were terrific entertainment.

You really don't understand the character of Batman. Bruce Wayne is the facade not Batman. Through out the comics that is the general understanding. If you go off just these first two movies as far as the personality of the characters right now yes tony stark would seem to be the stronger character. However, Bruce Wayne's development is not complete at all right now as far as movies go. The directions natural progression would be for bruce wayne to become even more focused and have an even heavier hand in the law of Gotham. Also Batman has to go against the Joker. one of the greatest criminal minds in comic history. Iron Man has not one enemy who can do what the joker does on the scale he does it. the joker attacks from all fronts he gets at batman on a personal level. Bruce Wayne would break Tony Starks alcoholic butt into without breaking a sweat.

I don't know that I disagree with you, but honestly, I'm not sure what you mean when you say that I don't understand the character of Batman. That certainly may be true; I never read the comics, but I'm just confused as to what you mean.

I'm also confused as to your comment that Bruce Wayne is the facade, not Batman. With Superman, sure that makes total sense, because Superman was Superman before he came to earth and used Clark Kent as a disguise. But Batman grew up as Bruce Wayne and then decided to use Batman as a way to fight crime in Gotham. He was Bruce Wayne before Batman, so while again I haven't read the comics and if you have I certainly will take your word for it, but it just doesn't make sense to me.

In comic world the common understanding is that Bruce wayne started to die the night his parents were shot and batman was born. He is driven to rid gotham of crime everything else is forsaken during his quest for justice. Look at the movie Alfred is constantly telling reminding him why he can't just be all about batman. that he needs to go out, he needs to date, he needs to run his company in order to keep his crime fighting going. Watch dark knight Batman never see's things as Bruce Wayne the normal head of a company guy. He looks at life through batman's eyes. Constantly looking for a weakness in his enemy and planning what might come next. whenever he is confronted with a real problem Batman comes out not playboy millionaire bruce wayne.

Clark Kent is the person in regards to Superman. All of his values come from his upbringing with the kents. Superman is a construct of the media and people. Unlike Batman when Superman is confronted with a problem he thinks as clark kent would and clark kent thinks how he was taught by the kents. He is clark kent all the time he never stops thinking like him. People who know who he is call him clark. there is a part in a batman comic when some guy is fucking with batman and trying to make him doubt himself. Batman figures it out the robin or nightwing ask how he figured it out and he says "because when i talk to myself i don't call myself bruce."

Wayne Enterprise and Stark Industries should cooperate rather than competing. Both Bruce and Tony are socialites. Possibly they might have met at their dads' party when they were children. Imagine that..

Kid Bruce: (looks all round Tony's garage) Wow, did you build these cars on your own?
    Kid Tony: Yeah. Don't you?
Kid Bruce: I don't know how to do this kind of work. Alfred gets me anything I need.
    Kid Tony: *bah*
Kid Bruce: Hey, could you design some cool car for me?
    Kid Tony: Maybe someday.

    -Dozen years later-

Bruce: Do you remember the promise? I need a new car because mine has crashed. (nods toward smashed-up Tumbler)
    Tony: Huh?

Yeah, but Ironman would destroy Batman.

The question title "Tony Stark vs Bruce Wayne" was really about the heroes they had created. The new Ironman movie made Bruce Wayne look like an amatuer when it comes to creating a suitand super hero.

The Batman gear is nowhere near as good as Ironmans abilities.

    The title should have been:
Roided up billionaire with some cool toys vs Weapon Genius in an Indestructable Suit

If the two movie personas got together for a showdown Iron Man would take it to batman, just to much superiority to Iron Mans on screen tech.

As far as thier wallet. Again I think Stark takes the prize.

    girls...yea tony again..
