Just got back from a visit to the good ol' states and gotta say I was initially surprised by the almost unanimous support for Obama in the vast majority of the media. Not that I disagree, but I hadn't expected that kind of favoritism. That was until I watched several minutes woth of Sarah Palin for the first time. Just...wow. When was the last time all a comedian had to do was cite her ACTUAL remarks!?! Who in his own right mind would choose someone like that as a running mate?

What, you still think our country is mighty and high like in the CLinton years? We're in a recession. We're at the bottom of the barrel thanks to McCain voting 90% with Bush.

Are you afraid of John McCain? After all Timothy McVeigh was white.

I don't see how that would help boost the McCain campaign.

At this point, even raising Reagan from the dead wouldn't help McCain.

What's left for him is to try and steal the election. Hence why he's parroting the ACORN BS.

Ok, I see a lot of people are voting for Barrack Obama. I want to know why. The reason why I ask is because him being black is not a good enough reason to be a president. I know he's a nice guy and all and maybe in a few years time he really will make an excellent leader but I just don't get that feeling from him. Forgive me if I sound racist for saying that. I don't intend that at all. But I think the american people need to think about the man their going to be electing as their president, not judging him by the colour of his skin. I want to know: Are you electing him for the right reasons? In other words, are you electing him because you believe him to be a better and stronger leader than John Mcain? Or are you just electing him simply for the reason that if he wins, he will become the first black American president. Now, don't get me wrong. I would love to see America run by a black president. But I think we need to put aside his skin colour and ask ourselves this: Is he really any better than John Mcain? Please. Correct me if I'm wrong. If your reasons for voting in Barrack Obama is not just the fact that he's black, than please enlighten me on what other reason/s you have. Once again, if I have caused any offense to anyone in this post than I sincerely apologize. I don't intend to offend or discriminate against anyone! I just want to know the facts here.

It seems like to me you didn't take the time to read our posts, Lith. And most of them have nothing to do with race, but the main reason many of us want Obama: economy, economy, economy. I want him president because he will fix the problems the Bush administration has caused, John McCain will just continue to propagate the Bush tax cut policy that is hurting middle class citizens like me today.

Does that answer your question, Lith?

Under Obama's plan, tax cuts will go to people making less than $250,000 income, not the wealthy folks like under Bush's/McCain's plan. Also, college students who do community service will get tax credits. Obama's plan will narrow the gap between the rich and the poor. Yah know what, it's hard for me to explain this whole thing to you. Where's Nelson when you need him?

The tax issue is Bush's fault. You can't have a war without raising taxes. Bush created a mess for the next president to clean up. The fact that taxes need to be raised is not Obama's fault.

Another thing. Not all of us are as wealthy as "joe the plumber", so a tax cut for middle-class citizens like myself are one of the reasons I voted for Obama.

People like Obama, McCain, or Mr. Bay can have their taxes raised and still remain wealthy.

John McCain is an extremely capable politician. I'm sure he'd be able to do the job but A) he's for the war and I'm definitely not. Surges are not the answer. This war is costing our nation billions and billions of dollars and it's so not where we need to put our efforts right now. We need to seriously reduce our presence in Iraq and Obama has pledged to do that. He recognizes there are other threats from Afghanistan and Iran.

and B) He chose an absolutely abhorrent running mate to appease the right-wing aspect of his party. In that moment, he favored his party, not the rights of Americans. She's a right-wing conservative. People who hold those kinds of conservative values believe them absolutely. Such people cannot be reasoned with. They don't care about people who don't agree with them and that is not how we do things in America!

One correction, the economy crisis is not Bush's fault. It's a worldwide crisis of all the banking sector (too much risky investing, too much property speculation). The whole "first world" is in the crisis and the "second" (south america, china, rusia) is now joining it. In a few months every country will be in crisis.

For example here in spain we passed from 3% growing prediction to 0% in less than a year and the unemployement is expected to raise to 15%. The spanish investing market was 18 months ago in 16.000 points, now its nearly in 8.000.

It's not all his fault, but his policies or lack thereof have worsened the problem.
