Damn...I really don't want to get involved in this one...but it is TOOO tempting. A sleeping giant has awaken! I am one of the most patriotic individuals you will ever meet...ever.

Has anyone else noticed that when a Democrat disagrees with a Republican, they are labeled a hippee or communist.

When a Republican disagrees with a Republican, they are labeled a "Maverick".

When Republican disagrees with a Democrat, they are labeled a "Real American".

I am not thrilled about this upcoming election, and wish the Democrats could have elected someone else. I don't think Obama is ready for this role, I really wish he had another 4-8 years under his belt. However, I can't stand the fact the McCain has become such a role player. I also can not stand the fact the Republicans are doing anything to win. The RNC did nothing but insult and tease the Democrats at their party. Where were issues? Where were the plans?

I ask you this about Palin. Do you HONESTLY think she would have been chosen if Hillary was originally chosen to run with Obama? I bet we would be seeing Huckabee or Romney standing next to McCain. She is was chosen to do EXACTLY what she is doing now. She is a VERY gifted speaker who gets attention and puts people in the seats.

Watch the news today...you will see that McCain criticized Palin in 2001 for her pork-barrel spending. She got $24 million in earmarked funds during her last 4-years as mayor! I suppose she has seen the light and now wants to change the corruption that she has been a victim of for so long.

Obama was ridiculed for pushing change and being a celebrity. What the hell is the RNC doing now. McCain is on the cover of people. Palin is on The View. And the entire Republican campaign is preaching 'Change'.

By the way, you are crazy if you think the RNC wouldn't embrace support from those workers who have it too easy...I think you called them actors.

I've got a title for the current Republican campaign...hypocritical!

Are all republicans this ignorant? I really would like to know why most of you think that we should just fall in line with our government just because they are our leaders? America is a democracy right? so that means if i don't vote for an official that get's elected to office i have the right to protest that official right?

There is freedom of speech correct? Cause if not what kind of government would we be under? I am just asking cause evidently I misunderstood that part of the constitution.

He couldn't just say he was against Palin, he had to question her background and education, foolishly because not only do the facts contradict him in every way(Google Sarah Palin’s Alaskan policies, you’ll find out) but by insulting Sarah Palin as a hockey mom, he insults millions of women in this country. But what does he care? He’s an elitist lefty intolerant.
Why can't he question her background? what's wrong with that? you're telling me that as a republican you haven't questioned Obamas background? Or have you just accepted everything he has told you. I suggest you match up your reactions to obama with yours toward palin and see which way the scale tips.

I could agreet with you more, Great. The Republicans are soo damn quick to jump on every word uttered.
There is video of McCain using the 'lipstick on a pig' statement during pre-Palin addresses. And now they want use Obama's comment as a personal attack and a swing-vote tactic.
The Republicans were blasting Obama's wife! She isn't even running!
It reminds me of the kid on the playground that always wanted to change the rules when something wasn't going their way.

That what we're supposed to do: QUESTION EVERYTHING. Maybe if we had asked the right question we wouldn't be in this failure and mess of a war.
Are you going to tell me if the Democrats had chosen someone with Palin's background, Conservatives wouldn't be dissecting every piece of info?
She's fair game as she's using her "mommy" status as a selling point in her campaign. She bought it on her self.
The fact that even some of the most hardcore Reagan-era supporters thinks she's a joke says something.
Actually, Palin and McCain have been lying about her own records and career. Bridge to nowhere? Palin's stalling of an investigation?
You mean the half of the country or the 30% that still supports the Idiot in Chief called George Bush?
Jess Helms was a racist lunatic. Timothy McVeigh was a murderer.
Comparing main stream Republicans to psychos like Helms and McVeigh is ridiculous.
Why not talk about Rev. Wright? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAYe7MT5BxM

Rev. Wright preaches hate. Obama attended his church for over 20 years. Controversial? maybe. Obama described this man as like an old uncle.

    Question everything, definitely.
How about Rezko? A man found guilty on various counts of fraud and corruption. Another of Obama’s dubious former associates.
What about Obama’s mother? A known Marxist activist. Obama said of his mother "She was the dominant figure in my formative years… The values she taught me continue to be my touchstone when it comes to how I go about the world of politics…"
We are in a world of hurt if this man is elected President.
What Palin lies? The bridge to nowhere? C’mon, was changing her mind about the bridge so important? Sarah Palin supported the bridge to nowhere, yes. But then she blocked it. She had her reasons, what’s the big deal?
With over 80% approval rating, Alaskans reckon she’s done OK.
Oh and one last thing, the latest polls say the Republican support is way higher than 30%… try closer to 50%.
In your book that’s a hell of a lot of idiots:lol

So let me get this straight...Palin's daughter is off limits...we can't talk about it. But Obama's mom is fair game?

I would love to see the proof that his mother was a Marxist.

And exactly what type of hurt are we in for? War in Iraq? War in Afghanistan? Energy Crisis? Women no longer having the right to choose? Our kids and grandkids being plagued by a tremendous debt? Is that the hurt the Obama is going to bring us?!?!:wtf

Stop badgering and start bringing real comment! Give me an example of the HURT that we ae going to feel and stop using party tag lines.

    HA! I love it. Thanks.
I am not in this to pick a fight. But I am so tired of comments with no credit. It makes me think of the movie 'Waiting' when Justin Long turns down the management position. "Uh...here's how it happened...you walked in...and um....YOU'RE FIRED".
I love a good debate. Just bring information to substantiate your claims. I have no problem acknowledging something that is TRUE.

Have you even seen the videos of Palin standing near her current preacher as he spews this nonsense about alaska being that last bastion during the end of days? How about the whole taking polar bears off the endangered species list. So we drill for more oil and lose another animal that could be saved over our ignorance? where is the love for gods creatures and life there? Check in to her church find out what the views of that are for you throw out reverend wright. at least obama distanced from him.

It seems like you guys are totally left, that's OK, but remember the USA is traditionally conservative.
20.000 people showed up yesterday in north Virginia to support McCain/Palin. The polls are showing a McCain lead.
I might be on my own here, but in the real world it's split even.
    So deal with it lefties.

Say it ain't so Ben! I met him at the Nixon library a few years ago -- made me cry (his lecture...part about death, not politics). He is a bright bird, former Nixon speech writer, etc. He has it right about a couple things, i.e., being a peculiar selection, and needing someone like Kissinger around -- but I thought all executives and heads of state had Kissinger types around for that specific purpose. (If they listen to them is another story.) I find Dan Quayle more peculiar, but that's just me.

You'd think the way people are going on about all the candidates someone was from another planet and had a cookbook called, "To Serve Man."

    I second that.

Besides if we are all lefties then perhaps its a coincidence that we are a majority on this forum.

Haha, tradition and conservative both mean the same thing.

I've got a title for the current Republican campaign...hypocritical!

Man, where to start. Sorry but you are using severe selective observation. Whenever a Democrat disagrees with a Republican they are labeled "hippee" or "communist"? I am a conservative and I am often chided when I disagree with liberals. I've been called a "fascist" by those who do not know the meaning of the word, "neanderthal" by elitists who feel only their views are modern and advanced. Liberals call conservatives "racist," "homophobic," "mean-spirited," you name it. Please don't tell me this is news to you; calling conservatives names has been a primary plank in the liberal platform for decades.

In terms of "Maverick," I assume you're talking about McCain, since he is the only Republican I've ever known that has been popularly referred to by that term. The leftwing press, which loves when Republicans break ranks with their party (curiously they don't seem as interested in Democrats who break ranks with their own party), labeled McCain a "maverick" as he opposed his party on many issues. The media loves Republicans that criticize their own party. The don't like Democrats who do the same though--such as Leibermann and Zell Miller.

It is also crazy to criticize Palin for being a "celebrity". Most of the attention she has gotten has been negative. You mention the cover of "People," but she is also on the cover of "Us," in what is an extremely biased attack against her family--using unfounded baseless charges. McCain criticized Obama, and rightfully so, because his whole being is that of a celebrity. He is treated as a star wherever he goes; he has rarely (if ever) been asked tough questions on his own background. It is ridiculous to criticize Palin as being a "celebrity" because a couple of magazines have chosen to put her on the cover. That has nothing to do with the amount of attention and fawning Obama has gotten from the media for years. The media got Obama his nomination, as they threw Hilary to the curb. Palin has received more negative attention from the media than positive. She's criticized for things that Obama has never even been questioned on (i.e, who writes his speeches, his past associations, his extreme left views, etc.) Your post seems to imply that the RNC is responsible for all of the press Palin receives, which is ridiculous. The RNC does not determine who goes on the cover of "People". Most of those magazines have more of a left-leaning tendency than anything else. Further, Obama was criticized for pushing "change" without any definition of what that meant. Palin, in two weeks has defined what she means by change and reform better than Obama has in two years.

"Republicans are doing anything to win" And Democrats aren't? The Dem party always plays fair and upright? The Dems launched an attack against President Bush years ago for the express purpose of ruining his approval rating, so their party would pick up congresional seats in the mid-term and 2004 elections. It was Biden himself, among others, who proclaimed the Iraq War lost, even while we have boots on the ground fighting in that conflict. They have talked down the war, the economy and the state of the country since Bush has been in office. All of this is engineered to gin up support for themselves and paint Bush in as negative light as possible. They've criticized Bush for things that they agreed to previously, like the Iraq War. Their words put our soldiers at higher risk for pure political purposes. What do you think it does to our soldiers when their leaders at home proclaim publicly that the war is "lost" or a waste, which Dems have done for years? What do you think those words do for our enemy, who certainly listens to them? Please don't try the "Republicans are doing anything to win," as if history started last week.

Finally, there is nothing wrong with choosing a running mate who brings political benefit to the ticket; it has been done forever. Again, don't pretend that history just started last week. Why did Obama choose Biden? Why not choose Edwards, who he wanted in the first place? (Of course, we know why.) If Obama was truly for "change," why did he pick a truly partisan long-time Senator who has been a Washington insider for 30 years?! What does Biden have to do with "change"? Further, how does he support the notion that Obama is a uniter? Why didn't Obama pick Hilary? Even Biden says she would have been a better pick.

Sorry, just thought your posting was entirely short-sighted and off-base and I thought it was important to put in my two-cents.

It's an election -- it's all propaganda (ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one's cause or to damage an opposing cause).

I do however wished Matt had followed his friend George's recommendation about celebs shutting the applicable pie hole as it isn't always helpful to the cause (whichever one it is). And I'm also wondering how much Bob Iger is loving the comment of "it's like a bad Disney movie." Was there bad blood there or something?

Thank you smartypants, that was a well executed response. I noted that I will always credit an intelligent statement, well done. There is no doubt my previous message was brief and fueled by party lines. Ironically, I am an undecided voter.
I am presently sending this message from a blackberry, and it is not easy to type. But I wanted to commend you for being the first conservative to post a worth-while, non-biased comment. Welcome to the conversation (and the forum if you are new.)

I think its time to start facing the harsh reality that people like Matt Damon are gonna be ranting and BSing about candidates and politics left and right all of the time. The election is only 54 days away, and things are gonna get hot. With this great race coming to an end, people are gonna start acting more open, angry and in some cases just plain assholes about it. Sometimes we need to accept the fact that we are gonna see stuff like this and be proud that we ourselves know how to engage in intelligent debates such as this one unlike people like Damon.

Matt the fake tough guy Damon says it is absurd to think Palin can be our President -and she is scary???? yet, he will back Obama - no experience, does not love America, wants us to be like Europe, and wants other countries to not be afraid of us- a guy who has been mentored for the past 20 years by a scum bag fake preacher that hates America and wants all white people dead! -
    huh? which is scarier????

No common sense with the liberal left - just a bunch of blind - mindless sheep - that will follow anyone who is a slick talker! remember slick willy - yeah he could talk most under the table - especially the girls!
