R35 GTR vs C6 Z06 - Don't miss this one

Obviously, all kinds of driver variables and such, and the "three beeps" aren't super consistent... but I'm pretty sure this is relatively definitive proof that Z06's have nothing to worry about where GTR's are concerned, either from a dig or a roll...

The Ring is still up in the air, but in a straight line at that price point, R35's are cannon-fodder for a C6 Z06.

Well, we don't know if the Z06 is still on the runflats, but I'm with you:

I thought the GTR would jump the Vette out of the hole hard with that launch control thingy and the Vette would have to haul it down up top.

Apparently not.



Lastly, I'm more convinced now than ever that the Ring run was run with a ringer...

Now remember this is the Z06 not the ZR1 super vette. Not in a magazine, not on the ring where this car was to be the "king of all". This was on the street two production cars. This is owners showing something very much not the same as what Nissan claims.

and the funny thing is Chevy has called out Nissan and said bring it..you bring out your VSpec. GTR We will run our ZR1..
Funny thing is..they have not responded yet..after all the hype I think Nissan got caught. Many are calling bull now to Nissan and are thinking the GTR that made its ring run was the VSpec GTR.

True!......and the Viper is Just as Bad. Granted they are much better at it than most affordable high performance cars...but they were never really bred for cornering...The average consumer seeks Straight line performance (drag racing) and that's what the market gives them

I know many people have been very interested in how fast the ZR1 would be at the Ring…
Most car enthusiasts are quite familiar with the Nürburgring. Built in the 1920’s near Cologne, Germany, “the Ring” is considered to be the toughest and most challenging race track in the world.
Over the last two weeks, we have been doing our final tuning and testing there before we start ZR1 production cars. This morning (Friday June 27), General Motors development engineer Jim Mero drove the Corvette ZR1 around the Nürburgring in a time of 7:26.4.
Jim commented after the lap that conditions were good except for a strong headwind down the main straight and that the lap was solid, but he felt there were a few places he could have gone faster.
The car was bone stock with the exception of the communications and safety equipment. The tires were production Michelin Pilot Sport 2’s. These tires have been developed specifically for the ZR1 and will have impressive wet traction and wear (tread wear rating = 220), in addition to excellent dry road holding. Chassis alignment and vehicle height were set to factory specs. Likewise, the engine calibrations were absolutely stock, emissions compliant and the car ran on pump (not racing) fuel. The vehicle was exactly like the cars that will be built in Bowling Green, Kentucky and sold around the world later this summer.

Ever since the Z06 came out it has out performed its paper numbers. GM has done this on all its corvettes in the last 10 years. Why would they drop the ball on the most coveted vettes in History? I bet you not only that it will hold up to these numbers but in fact be better next time around...
And list..umm the list says the same anywhere you look it up. Like I said I just picked some cars out and not posting all of them and again the car put up the 7:26.4. How can you say it can not handle the corners?

I've never driven a vette, but I've driven two vipers. The 98 rt-10 is useless at 100mph as it does not come equipped with side windows. It is a great cruising car, and great for doing burnouts......and a chick magnet
The car handles corners laterally....no body roll whatsoever, but it's really squirrelly, and too easy to put into a drift.

The 2000 Viper GTS was a step up......addition of a roof and side windows, added some weight to the rear, and handled much better than the rt-10. But I'm sure there was a good reason for coming up with the GTS-R

Ever since the Z06 came out it has out performed its paper numbers. GM has done this on all its corvettes in the last 10 years. Why would they drop the ball on the most coveted vettes in History? I bet you not only that it will hold up to these numbers but in fact be better next time around...

You have to be pretty naive to believe what any car manufacturer would tell you in regard to their pre-production cars being the same as their street production cars. That goes for any car manufacturer.

no not naive Nelson. Proof on the street. The Z06 has been putting down MORE hp to the wheels than GM has advertised for some time now. This is private owners on corvette forums documenting this.
Also the 1998-2002 Camaro and Firebirds with the LS1 engines. They were rated at 305-320HP depending on the trim. And yet people were putting down HP numbers that would suggest flywheel HP to be at 350HP..
The thing is the Z06 the car you can go out and get now can and has done what you say it can not do in the times it says or take corners like you say. I have seen the cars do it personally at many a tracks up and down the east coast. Thats if you don't want to compare any times on the ring. What you call junk is kicking ass on cars costing much more. Thats not factory speculation thats actual events.
The ZR1..with GM's track record for the last 10 years I see no change in fact I see more being revealed as time goes on....:lol

I don't know about figures on the LS1 camaros....I've seen guys run them at the drags with headers and drag radials, turning best times of 13.8's in the 1/4. This is at only a mere 700 ft above sea level and cooler temperatures below 70 Fahrenheit.

I think there are a lot of guys around the net who loosely use the the word "Stock" to describe their cars.....

Wow...I didn't know we were going to begin making this personal...I sure as hell wasn't. My comment was simple, I prefer racing road courses over dragging. Currently I drive a Civic Si (I wanted fuel efficiency and some performance for less than $20k). Previously Honda S2000, Mustang GT, Jeep Wrangler and my '88 F-150 (she had plenty of lift and rode on 38's). Other than the Jeep, all have been on the track and none of them have touched the wall! You know a great deal about cars, but know who you are riping before you open your mouth. I WILL NOT run a car on the road and risk someone else's life. There are plenty of open track days at most area race courses. I run go-karts whenever I have a chance. I am trying to get a team together to run Mid-Ohio on a regular basis next year. I am using my dad's old twin engine mccullough outlaw to get comfortable with high speeds. Both of my parents met while racing the Cart circuit in the 70's.

Btw...I am willing to bet most dumbasses are injured dragging racing on the streets rather than being intelligent enough to take the car to a track (road or 1/4 mile).

Oh, and before you make a comment about me driving a rice burner...I am presently restoring a '66 Mustang and recently finished a sand-rail.
