Default "The Dark Knight" - Final verdict

Holy batshit! What a piece of … brilliant filmmaking. “The Dark Knight” delivers on all levels and then some. Forget about the utterly lame “Batman Begins” – THIS is the real deal. Dark, gritty and surprisingly smart, “The Dark Knight” gives most superhero adaptations a run for their money. And need I say it? The late Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the joker redefines not only the character, but Ledger as an actor. Most surprising for me was perhaps the fact that “The Dark Knight” even managed to cast its shadow over the following offering: “Wall-E”.

The early buzz is that Heath will get a posthumous Oscar for this role.

I hope so. He really deserves it. After all, this role somewhat killed him.

He probably just means The Dark Knight is so awesome it makes Batman Begins look tame in comparison

Anyway, winkeladvokat, how come you get to see all movies before the rest of us?

Yeah! I want to know that too! I thought America got all the movies first, since you know we have Hollywood here and all. LOL

I just read a review over at IGN.com and it gave TDK 5/5.

Three of my friends and I are watching the IMAX version on July 20. Unfortunately, the seats are assigned and we have to sit in the second row from the front (the showing was pretty much almost sold out when I ordered on movietickets.com).

Hopefully, we won't have to tilt our necks too high up to gaze up at a 100-foot screen

Dude, they have assigned seating? WTF up with that?

I bought tickets off of Fandango and they aren't assigned seating.

    That's whacked.

The IMAX screen is at a theater called The Bridge in Los Angeles. It's one of those "classy" theaters where they even have a bar inside if you wanna booze up before watching a flick (or afterwards after watching a film like Speed Racer or Indy IV).

The only other theater chain that has assigned seating as well are the Arclight theaters in Hollywood and Sherman Oaks (in CA).

    Ahhh...that explains a lot.

There's no bars in the IMAX where I'm going. But hey, I don't need to get drunk to watch TDK. I'm going to pay attention to every. single. detail.

I love this new franchise because it's different.

This is not your typical kid's Batman, no way.

    Eight days!!!!

I caught a pre-screening yesterday and totally agree. This movie was absolutely incredible and blew past all of the hype. Ledger disappeared into the role; I thought the Oscar hype might have been trumped up due to his death, but it's legit. He's captivating and chilling. The best part is that none of the trailers really showed you much of anything. Can't wait to see it again in Imax!

MAN! Why did I get tickets for Sunday?

Oh, yeah, that's right, to avoid the crowds. Hehe.

wow...if you say so. It'll probably cost you an extra $4 just to go. So you'll be paying around, what $15? Then the cost of food/drink if you get it. You one crazy lady.
