Jon Voight not going to be in Transformers:Revenge Of The Fallen.....what the hell?? If his character is still in TF2 I wonder who will be playing him. I hate actor changes in movies

In an interview with Collider.com, Jon Voight said he will NOT be in Transformers 2, contradicting a statement that he would be from Tyrese. I guess at that point Tyrese thought he was still going to be in it but that changed as since then Voight accepted the role of the villain for season 7 of 24 which will occupy an unknown amount of his time. This begs the question of who his "replacement" will be for the purpose of access to military assets.

The interview was conducted after the 2008 Saturn Awards where Transformers won Best Special Effects. The video interview is here. Thanks to Russell for the link and post title.

Its done in The Dark Knight, but we'll just see how that works out. A movie like this I wouldn't care less.

I doubt the character that Jon Voight played is in the movie then. Shame that he won't be back though. It's either that the character wasn't written into the script and Voight was never asked or he was busy on another project. There probably won't be another actor playing Keller but a new character altogether. Anyway, it's nice to hear he liked working with Michael and that he appreciated the film.

Mr.Bay should replace him with Donald Sutherland then.. obviously playing another character.. maybe still a politician.. they could include one that managed to steal the role or got elected as US President (if the final script still includes that). They could quickly mention that the new character, and Donald Sutherland would be perfect for a role like that as much as Voight has been on the first movie, was a political opponent of Voight's character that managed to get him either fired or removed from his role. That would make perfect sense and in the end the general public wouldn't notice a huge difference.

The most important thing is that Mr.Bay would never put another actor or actress playing a known character, that would look cheap and make no sense. Unless an actor/actress dies there is no reason why another should play the same character that the public already knows.

Such a change, that it's needed anyway now, wouldn't be that hard to accomplish and most of the Voight's character sentences and scenes could be mantained if already written, by just removing any references to Voight's own actions in the first movie.

Donald Sutherland could be a good addition but I always think of him as playing a crooked person. Maybe he would be good for a politician!

I'm hoping they find a way just to write out Voight's part if this is in fact real and not just another way to throw us all off track.

Kinda like how they got a new actress to play the Oracle in Matrix Revolutions after Gloria Foster passed away, and the Wachowski Brothers tried to explain that in the story by saying something changed the Oracle's program

If an actor or actress dies that is obvious that to mantain the same character there must be a replacement with or without any explanation. In the Matrix case they were forced to give the role to a new actress and due to the nature of the character they could easily do that.
But in the case of Transformers movie there can't be any actor/actress replacement for human characters. And unless someone dies it would be a huge mistake to replace anyone. So Voight's character can't be played by any other actor but they can add a new character similar to that one.

And then the President in TF2 will be an Obama look-alike...who's onboard Air Force One when Starscream shoots it out of the sky or Fallen collides with it in mid-air, destroying the aircraft as he touches down on the ground.

Where did you hear that? Although, 3-D does seem to be an upcoming trend in movies. I am intersted in Journey to the Center of the Earth in 3-D.

Even if it does come out in 3-D, you still have a choice to watch it in normal theaters.

Chances are, 3-D prints of the movie are only available at cinemas with IMAX screens. So that's not every city.

And plus, if you've seen it in your standard cinema screen, you're most likely going to want to watch it again in 3-D just to cure your curiousity about what it'll be like.
