Thread: OFFICIAL Transformers 2 NEWS Thread Part 1 [Spoilers]

  1. OFFICIAL Transformers 2 NEWS Thread Part 1 [Spoilers]

    (nelson, could you sticky this?)

Instead of creating a million threads about set pictures and this and that, let's keep it into one thread so we don't make the forum a damn clusterfuck.

    http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/
That's going to be a good blog worth looking out after for the next while.

  2. Re: OFFICIAL Transformers 2 MEDIA Thread (Possible Spoilers?)

Not to sound like a downer but:

We tried these types last time, didn't work (with the exception of the toy thread). Unfortunately people would rather post first, ask questions later. (look at all of the "When is TF on blu-ray" threads as a current example) People have trouble keeping TF-related stuff in the TF thread as it is.

Don't get me wrong, I'm for this. (and will contribute) I just think think its a bit lofty to think that this being a sticky is gonna curb repeat threads.

  3. Re: OFFICIAL Transformers 2 MEDIA Thread (Possible Spoilers?)

    I'm trying heh.

I just hate logging on like 2-3 hours after I last visited and theres 37 new threads about the same shit. I think we should mandate this thread. Merge them all that fall into this category for the next year or so

Chinese simplified character (Jiǎnhuàzì) is slightly different to our Kanji. But I think it reads..

Yeah, I know. But in honor of keeping this thread as a viable sticky for all things TF-news related, I'm gonna post anything that hasn't already been posted right here from now on.

no arguements from me about it! I think though being a sticky it will stay at the top of the list?

    Yeah, it will.

Shooting was postponed last night (the explosions and shit, anyway) because of rain. Hopefully it's cleared up so we can get some reports tomorrow morning.

Wouldnt doubt it. PA gets rained on like nobody's business.
Speaking of that...do they factor all of that in when they shoot (like accounting for weather and stuff) How much leeway does that give then?
    This is Ferngully, bitch!

I imagine they'd shoot what they could and in post color-correct it all.

    new on transformers live

I received a tip from "Gwen" that says that Nina Dobrev ("Degrassi: The Next Generation" has been cast in TF II for a role as a university student. Who, what, when, etc not known. I assume this means she will join Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, and Aaron Hill at the University of Pennsylvania when shooting starts there at mid-month. I am not familiar with the actress but a Google search show a very attractive 19 year old.

    Bay: Transformers 2 Self-Contained

In an interview with MTV News, Michael Bay comments that the sequel will not follow the recent trilogy convention of the second film setting up the third.

Because it’s friggin “lame,” “Transformers” director Michael Bay insisted to us at the MTV Movie Awards, telling MTV News that the second go-round with Optimus Prime would be entirely self-contained.

“You know how those sequels they do the second one so you go see the third one? ["Transformers 2”] is it,” he said, indicating that “2” would be its own story free from the duel shackles of set-up or resolution. “First one was just introducing, setting up stuff, so we can go a lot farther. Let’s just say [this] is not a lame sequel.”

If “Transformers” was all about introduction, then “Transformers 2” will be all about escalation, with reports that upwards of 20 robots will do battle in the blockbuster sequel. But for Bay, it’s not the number of robots present, but how they’ll be more fully and individually realized that has him excited, he said.

“The robots are going to surprise a lot of people because we go with a lot of different levels,” he teased.

Yeah just read about it a little bit ago.

    I love Michael's line: "It's not a bullshit sequel."

that in itself is enough to say that he's going to do this the best that he can and not just trying to capitalize on the first one's success. The man makes some good movies I don't think I'll ever understand really why a lot of people down grade him and his movies

roberto stated before xmas that when writing the script they weren't going to think of a third one like the matrix movies. i'm glad he kept his word.

Transformers 2’ Will Not Just Set Up Third Film, Promises Michael Bay

10 Comments | Published by Shawn Adler on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 11:50 am.
First there was “Back to the Future,” and then “The Matrix,” and then, more recently, “Pirates of the Caribbean,” where literally the last thing said on screen during the second film was a cliffhanging new plot point. If you’ve got a successful franchise, why not link the second and third movies, forcing audiences to wait upwards of a year for resolution?
Because it’s friggin “lame,” “Transformers” director Michael Bay insisted to us at the MTV Movie Awards, telling MTV News that the second go-round with Optimus Prime would be entirely self-contained.
“You know how those sequels they do the second one so you go see the third one? “The robots are going to surprise a lot of people because we go with a lot of different levels,” he teased.
Of course, that also applies to returning cast members, as well, who will now get a chance to go further with their characters than they did in the original. Shia LaBeouf will be in college (and taught by Rainn Wilson). But forget transforming robots or finals angst, Megan Fox smiled, the real transformation is yet to come.
“In this one I transform from a girl into a woman,” she laughed.
Good enough for us. Is Bay’s idea of a self-contained sequel better or worse than linked films? And would you like to see more personality and backstory out of the robots, or is it all about blowing shit up? Sound off below.

Michael Bay is smart to keep it like that. Sure having an ending to be a cliffhanger will of course force a sequel to guarantee fans that there will be another movie which is a great thing but it just doesn't work well with audiences.

Look at Pirates 2 and Matrix Reloaded, they got mixed to negative reviews because the ending killed it for them. They felt the movie was incomplete and were lost in the story.

Transformers ended the right way. That is why the first Kill Bill works because they ended everything with closure even though we all know there would be a sequel to it anyways.

Transformers 2 being a stand alone movie will give it a better chance at less critic bashing the way Matrix Reloaded and POTC3 did. Audiences just don't like those types of endings because the wait is too long.

And I just don't like it because I hate answering the question of which movie do I like better because its harder to answer that because technically its supposed to be one long movie.

Lord of the Rings works because it felt like the movie ended even though there was another journey but it wasn't something that needed an instant resolution.

Good on Bay for not doing something that's lame.

And also I'm glad that he decided to put the Starscream flying away in the previous movie in the first few minutes of the end credits instead of the current trend which is getting us to wait til the very end. Alot of audiences find it also lame and very gimmicky and have too many high expectations when they ask us to wait til the very end.

I have never been satisfied with whatever happens at the very end credits, not even the Nicky Fury thing after Iron Man.

  23. Is The Old Ice Cream Truck on the Bethlehem Set a Transformer?

Is this just a beat-up old ice cream truck sitting in a lot on the TF2 set, or is it more than meets the eye? Seibertron.com has a reliable source that tells us that the vehicle was spotted doing practice runs around the set and that it is actually a new Transformer - an Autobot that, according to our source, will split into two Autobot twins.

We'll have to wait and see if this one is true...

I would seriously laugh if that thing was a Transformer.

I would like to see each character (transformers more specifically) get their own spotlight. That would be very nice.
