Wow, when I wrote this I knew I would get backlash, I even thought that I would be banned or had my thread removed, but I did not expect so much child-like anger.
I'm sorry if you liked it so much and my expressing of my opinions hurt your feelings. Here in Canada we are still allowed to say how we feel, but perhaps I should have thought twice before posting freely on an American site.
My point of view is drawn from the original TF - the ORIGINAL. That means, anything that comes after the original has to live up to, or surpass the standards set by the original. Yes, it was a cartoon, but have you watched it lately? I recently picked up the first 2 seasons and watched them in order. The stories were good, the characters were in depth and unique and the only mistakes were mostly the limits of technology, budget or painter error - the plot was solid.
THIS is the NEW TF, I understand that, but I felt that there are holes in the plot (allspark, cybertron destroyed, characters MIA etc). I did not say it suckt - I believe I mentioned I watched it about 6 times.
What I liked about Frank's voice for Megatron is that it was realistic and unique - in this new interpretation ALL of the decepticons have red eyes and ridiculous voices. This tells me that very little effort was put into what these characters are all about. It is the typical, standard issue villain. Big, strong, scary, no personality nor intelligence. The original Megatron was a strategist, a warrior, a leader, driven and smart. Starscream was ambitious, driven, sneaky, deceptive and not very tactical.
In G1, every character had depth. In this new one, very few of them get any attention at all. That girl got more attention when she opened BB's hood and gave Sam a boner. That is so not necessary when you have a good story and good characters.
