Ohhhh yeah! Thanks for setting me straight on all that.

    And what about Knight Rider?

    Okay, bad example. I'm tired.

How is KITT not a robot? It has a voice chip, a CPU, it can activate on its own. Think on its own, move on its own, open doors on its own. Seems quite robotic to me. Or do you classify robots as only looking in some way shape or form, humanoid (or animal-oid?) to be classified as a robot?

You are correct, sir! Robby and Hunter-Killers are also robots.

Gigolo Joe, 3PO and Data are androids.

T-800s, T-850s, Will Smith's character in I, Robot and RoboCop are cyborgs.

HAL9000 and KITT are sentient computers.

Replicants and humanoid Cylons are actually GOLEMS, which is oh so awesome!

and, in my personal opinion, T-1000s fall into the "monsters" category, with xenomorphs, the Headless Horseman, Freddy Krueger, etc. But that's just my opinion. The T-1000 has no moving parts. It is not a robot or anything our human science could even try to explain!

Hmm.. I thought Robots were anything mechanical and by its actions gives off a sense that it acts on its own. I thought Kitt was considered this since it can move on its own. Oh.. and just found this..

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robot

It actually specifically lists KITT as being considered a robot (and no I didn't edit this information.. it was already there)

    Actually its a Droid..

and like she said "HAL9000 and KITT are sentient computers."
and like mentioned in the wiki yea in the possible terms yes it could be classified as a robot..and if you read the rest of it it goes into actually saying yes and no to what would be considered a robot by KITT's deffinition. And it lays the groundwork to call everything a robot or sub group them all into catagories to what defines a robot..
in the best of terms is KITT a robot..sure..but to put it into the usage of the way we think of robots..nahh hes a sentient car..that lays in the catagory of robot..lol

I always thought of KITT as an AI computer inside of a car but that's my memory being weak. He can interact with his environment, has mobility, and make choices for himself. Okay, KITT goes in the robot pile.

Also, you could argue with me regarding T-800s and T-850s, too. It occurs to me that they would still function if they were completely stripped of their flesh and the defining characteristic of a cyborg is that it will die without either its human or synthetic parts. But T-8s are unique because their flesh grows back of its own accord, thus "a cybernetic organism."

Oh, and in case you're wondering why I'm such a geek about this it's because I was born with hydrocephalus, have a ventricular shunt in my brain and that does actually make me a cyborg. Neat, huh? I was born to be a sci-fi nerd!

I'm not sure what ya meant by T800's and T850's. I'm guessing you are referring to the Terminator series? If you are.. I'm not sure as to what you were referring to, because there was the Arnold Schwartzenagger robot, then there was the police officer , and no I dont' consider him a robot since he was like some sort of regenerating metallic alloy component. And then there was the female in the 3rd movie whom I also don't consider a robot since she was somewhat of the same type of alloy as in the 2nd movie. But the robots she energized such as the white critters rolling around shooting at people.. and the hoverplanes.. I'd consider those to be robots. Dont' remember what their classification was exactly.

Thats kind of weird about the cyborg thing with your brain or whatever you were talking about.. not really too familiar with all of that. Only metal I have in my body is some shrapnel embedded under my ribs from Iraq, and some pins in my knee due to my ACL surgery. I hardly consider any of that to be cyborg like though.

    T-800 and T-850 are androids because they're completely non-biological.
The term cyborg (cybernetic organism) is used for biological organisms (mainly human) which are enhanced or assisted with synthetic (bionic or robotic) parts.

So, sure, you can call you Cyborg, Red and Smoke. It's very cool.

Oh, right, because the 800 and the 850 are the exoskeletons beneath a model 101. I'm losing my mind, great. Just one more damned thing...

No wonder people think T-101, T-800, T-850 were cyborg, because onscreen they were referred to as so.

It has been a longstanding issue for us sci-fi geeks. In T2, T-800 explained he is a cyborg because he has living tissues around the endoskeleton.
But technically, every cyborg must have at least biological neural system inherently. If one human replace his/her entire brain function with non-biological CPU, the person is no longer "human", but is an android.

Oh, what a nerdy subject you and I are talking about.

    EH? Sooooo..

T-101 was Arnold.. who was a robot. T-1000 was the liquid alloy cop who is not a robot. T-X was the female who was some other form of liquid alloy renegade who wasn't a robot. T-1's were the robots activated by the T-X in T3. In T2 the T-101 was also referred to as a T-800, and in T3 he was referred to as a 850 series model 101 aka T-850. So in other words Arnold is referred to as a T101, T-800 and a T-850. They refer to him as being a cyborg when in reality he's nothing more than a robot. Wow this gets all sorts of confusing. I had to look all of that up on wikipedia

When thinking of the other movies and the lifestyle i had then.Makes me depressed.Except for I,robot and transformers. Those were some hard times growing up.I watched those movies and in some cases, was in fact inspired to make it through those times.I can honestly say that transformers has to be my favorite.I watched this movie in an air conditioned theatre, ate concession snacks, and took in every second with my family.I felt more involved with the movie and my seven yr olds reactions, that I forgot everything and had a great time.I walked outside with my familyafter the movie and had this "Star Wars" feeling when I left the movies to the outside.Excited and energetic!!When my parents went through a nasty divorce,my dad took me to the movies for the last time.It was return of the jedi.I felt like I could be a JEDI when I left the movies.Excited!!I even remember picking up my bike and loading it into my dads truck.I never done that before.I was 8.I didnt just vote cause of Barricade or sucking up.It was good and it made for good times.loved transformers...cant wait for part two.!!!
