The Space Odyssey was ok....although it had too much classical music for my taste and the end (zoomed in on the guys eyeball) went on forever.

IMHO, Pinocchio, Coppelia (from a ballet based upon a novel Der Sandmann by E. T. A. Hoffmann) and Galatea (in a Greek myth) are kind of very classic autonomous robots.
