Who here enjoys the likes of Alfred Hitchcock?
What's your favorite movie, or even episode of the old Alfred Hitchcock presents?
I kind of like Strangers on a Train and Vertigo.

Psycho. Sorry, a Classic. Used his same crew from the TV show and if I'm not mistaken did it on a little more than the TV budget.
There are several others I cannot remember very well. He was so good at doing things like the continuous take that was hailed as brilliant in Atonement. Hitchcock wanted to perfect it, sadly the fils he did it with weren't the greatest.![]()

I'm a dog chasing cars. I don't know what I'd do if I caught one. I don't have plans. I just do things. I'm not a schemer.

I heard they're making a movie based around The Number 13.
I'm not exactly sure what it's all about but it's supposed to center on Alfred Hitchcock during the production I think. And him getting caught up in a story that's similar to his style of movies.
I don't know how good it'll be but it's pretty interesting that it's on The Number 13. I think that's the film that was never completed, and I think they lost the footage from it? I'm not sure what it was about, though.
Does anyone know what it was about, or is it kind of lost in time?
That's so weird that you say that, because I had a similar period with both filmmakers.
As for the best Hitchcock, I think I can't choose between Rear Window and Vertigo and then I remember The 39 Steps... and then Strangers on a Train.. and then I'm really stuck! I can tell you that I flatly dislike The Birds and don't care for Marnie, not because it's bad, but because it is SO DISTURBING!

The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956 -- the remake!)
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (his only comedy)
Psycho and North By Northwest are probably my favourites. Haven't seen enough of his work though, I would like to see Marnie (him and Sean Connery sounds like an interesting combination) and Frenzy.

Speaking of Hitch, I just saw Vertigo for the first time everGreat film. I sure didn't see that twist coming, and contrary to what some people say I liked that it came long before Jimmy Stewart puzzled it all together. Totally unpredictable thriller.
