Question IMAX release .. how much extended is it?

There is still no official info regarding how many more minutes have been added to the Transformers IMAX release, some rumors say up to 20minutes+ added scenes but nothing official.

What can we expect from it ? Is it really going to be extended by 20mins+ new scenes and more CGI was then rendered for it or is it going to have just a 2-5 minutes+ added scenes ?

Anyway I hope that the discs releases expected for December will feature the extended IMAX cut both on DVD and HD-DVD (since there is no Blu-Ray anymore, you know...).

that would be cool if there was a good chunk of 20 minutes added and hopefully those 20 minutes will feature more robots. I think it will because this movie made so much with just a 150 mil budget and there are many complaints about not enough CGI so maybe all of our wishes will come true and I suspect that this will probably be in the bonus features of the DVD to come out... All I know is that this is gonna be the best DVD ever because of all of the bonus stuff!

As far as I know, there might not be any extra footage.

When did Paramount promise such thing? The fact that Superhero Hype reported it doesn't mean jack. Last time I contacted Bay he said it was still up in the air.

Personally, they should leave new footage for the DVD. Leave the theatrical release as is.

idk..look what extra footage did for Star Wars..

One thing is if there is..more of the car chase..even if its 30 seconds more..

or maybe for a personal point the footage from Boston..

Regarding the rumored DVD/HD-DVD prequel feature, can you confirm that it's going to be a cartoon episode like some sites have recently reported ? If that's the case I would find it really disappointing, the new Transformers cartoon serie is really childish, the previews I watched on the 'net were disappointing, I was expecting some top notch anime-style production like the original G1 and instead they are delivering a version aimed at little kids with quite cheap/low detailed animation...

Anyway, regarding the Transformers movie prequel I was expecting that Paramount/Dreamworks would have spent some money into delivering an high-quality CGI feature to show us Cybertron. From rumors is not really clear if it's going to be a prequel to the first or the second movie either.
No CGI prequel it's a disappointment anyway and the new cartoon production is not suited to adults, no top-notch CGI like in the movie will mean that practically no adults will get interested into watching such a prequel, it will look cheap stuff. Only a serious CGI feature would have been considered something worth having by the majority of people who watched the theatrical release. If it's a cartoon feature then it's not going to boost DVD sales for sure and practically no one will get interested into watching that cartoon in HDTV on HD-DVD, that's the point here. CGI looks cool, perfect, amazing, worth watching by 99% of adults .. the Anime like G1 original serie would aim at now adults fans of the serie but the new cartoon production is not on par with either the movie nor the G1 serie, and adults won't care about it.

They did show the boston footage. It was the bit where the taxi arrives at Anthony Anderson's house.

well personally i dont care if they add footage or not because its gonna be amazing to see it in IMAX and I can't wait! And I don't think tickets are on sale yet and probably wont be until about a week before the release. So a little over a week and you can buy your tickets!

[Hi, long-time reader here, just decided to register finally. This is my first post.]

So no one knows whether the extra footage will mostly be comedy scenes or action scenes?
I can't help but think about that extended cut of Spider-Man 2 which has 8 minutes or so added to the original cut and it's all action (and apparently kicks ass - personally, I haven't seen this new cut).
I sure hope the extra footage will be on the DVD (since I live in France and they won't be re-releasing it here).

I'd definitely go to see it (even without extra footage) if there was an IMAX where i live.

I don't really care at this point. It's ultimately just another excuse to go see it in theaters for me, and with much better sound!!

    And much better picture too!

I hope my local Imax theater decides to show it even if it did not have extra footage then I'd still see it at least twice more.

the only extra footage i would want in it is if any of the action scenes have extended versions, other then that, i would prefer any more talking parts to stay on the DVd....that and i swear we better get a 2 CD DVD packed with features! =)

The IMAX should not have new footage...5 times viewed and I know I missed stuff still...when you are sitting in the theater like this.... you...well more importantly me...miss footage...leave the new footage for the dvd.

The extended footage should be included for the IMAX release. Otherwise what's the point in seeing it in IMAX? A big picture and sound is not enough for me.

There is no other point to TF:IMAX. Bigger picture, better sound, that's all (IMO). Those two factors are enough to get me in there. Extra content? Definately would be icing on the cake, but ultimately irrelevant, especially if it was/turns out to be cutting-room fodder to begin with and not extra actual robot footage. (which I doubt they would have wasted given the $$$$/per robot)

I'm sure though that the scenes have been filmed just the rendering wasn't done. It just bugs me that they cut some of the most important scenes out like Barricade getting killed.

Only two more minutes ? Hmm, I would have thought it would be more than that but I would still see it even if it was the same as the theatrical version.
Depending upon the footage I might not notice a difference at all if it's that little.
I hope my Imax theater decides to show it!
