Dam thats bold The Great I and many ofter players of GTA IV will not be pryed away from gta iv for about 2 months. So by the time i have had enought of playiong GTA 4 iron man will no longer be play at the cinama. i can wait intill dvd release. I get more fun out of playing games with 16 other player months than seeing a movie once or twice at the cinama.
I think ironman will be more of a DVD film not saying it want do well at the thearters.

öhöm.. sorry.. its me . .the guy from germany .. aaaaand.. IronMan was a little bit "lame"! The music was bad and had no heart (instead of transformers) and the action sequences were too short (transfromers = actionsequence^^).... Ok Robert was good but i hope the sequel will be better..

Update: Iron Man Pulls in an Estimated $35M

Fantasy Moguls reports that Iron Man earned an estimated $35 million on Friday domestically. It pulled in $5.2 million on Thursday night. The $35 million is said to include the portion of the $5.2 million preview business that came after midnight.
The Hollywood Reporter added that the comic book adaptation earned $22.4 million internationally in its first two days from 35 markets. If those numbers stand, that's already $57.4 million worldwide not even counting international figures for Friday.
Over two days in release, Korea has delivered $2.4 million; Singapore, $905,331; Thailand, $652,192; and Hong Kong, $533,859. While in just one day, Italy has pulled in $1.7 million and Australia, $1.1 million.

After the tornado yesterday I hopped online to check out the weather and shots of the KLTV (east texas's news).I've seen bolder. You disappoint me.
Besides, I think being the first of the blockbusters will actually hinder Iron Man's initial take. With Speed Racer, Narnia 2, and Indiana Jones hot on its tails in May alone. (like any of those or not, those are gonna pull in some $$$)
As far as dialog, I'm rooting for Downey to kill as Tony Stark. I even hope he channels some of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang into the character.
Bold would be saying Made of Honor will outperform Iron man to reign supreme the weekend of May 2nd.

Wow.. I didn't even think about half of those movies that were coming out. I knew I had wanted to see Ironman, Speed Racer, and Prince Caspian. I guess in the back of my mind Wall-E as well. Batman.. I dunno.. seems like its getting a lil old for some reason. I didn't even know about Indiana Jones, Hellboy or The Incredible Hulk. Did I see somewhere that Shia is playing in Indiana Jones, or is that someone else? That'd be kind of odd to have him in there. Unless Hellboy or Incredible Hulk is a part 2 with the original main cast of characters, I won't be seeing them. And there is no friggin way I'm gonna go see Sex in the City. Or and the city or with the city or whatever their having sex with. Especially if that Sarah Jessica Parker is in it. I think she is one of the ugliest persons alive. I dunno who thinks she's hot, but I know I definitely don't think so.

I watched IronMan last night and it was dissappointing, and Im no major fan of transformers either, just transformers was created better, but transformers is far from being a masterpiece. Iron man had great potentional but the script did not give it justice, acting was good by rob and lifted the film. The director seemed not to give the movie a good cycle to keep the viewer constantly in tune with whats going on it kind of got boring in some parts and excellent in others. Ironman comic character happened to be one of my favourites of the Marvel Enterprise but the movie seemed to let it down a bit
I hope the 2nd installment will be improved, I will be downloading it next time around.
The script basically let down IronMan, the introduction of him making his first draft suit was weak and basically they could of made some other story that had more gravity towards reality. The military is right now working with robotic suits etc and even more so then you will ever see, so starks could of been involved in this and then realised his own government was corrupt and then wanted to clean house with his own suit. That would of been a better story line and its closer to the truth. Also I think it could be quite likely the cave part in iron man is a bit of hollywood propaganda

What a difference a single movie can make. After weeks of humdrum pictures dragging it down, business came roaring back with the sensational debut of Iron Man, the first salvo of the summer movie season. While the weekend as a whole was down from last year when Spider-Man 3 hit a new opening milestone, it was the fourth best on record for the early May timeframe.
Iron Man rocketed to an estimated $100.8 million on approximately 8,700 screens at 4,105 theaters for a $104.3 million tally including Thursday night previews. The reportedly $140 million-budgeted Marvel Comics adaptation had the second-highest grossing opening weekend ever for a non-sequel behind Spider-Man and the tenth highest overall. In terms of attendance, the start was slightly higher than X2: X-Men United's May 2 debut five years ago, and it soared past Marvel's average opening by over 60 percent.

"We're lucky to have this powerful Marvel brand that is loved, not just in comics. Like Pixar, it stands for something. It's quality family entertainment, and we have a fan base that spreads virally. Now, we have complete creative control."
Amidst the recent movie drought, Iron Man was an oasis and behaved like an upper echelon superhero movie. Previously, only the most popular superheroes attained such heights, namely Spider-Man, Batman, Superman and X-Men, while lower tier characters like Fantastic Four, Hulk, Ghost Rider and Daredevil peaked in the mid-range. In advertising, Iron Man was presented as a bright and colorful spectacle and featured a witty main character with aspirations, played by Robert Downey, Jr. (adding rooting interest with his comeback role), who wasn't tortured like most recent superheroes, coming off as a happy version of Batman. According to Paramount's exit polling, the audience was 65 percent male and 55 percent over 25 years old. What's more, moviegoers seemed to enjoy the picture as it garnered an "A" from both pollster CinemaScore and Box Office Mojo readers.
The best performing superhero movies have had a famous super villain (and hence super conflict) to enhance moviegoer interest. Spider-Man had the Green Goblin, Batman had the Joker, Superman had Lex Luthor, X-Men had Magneto. Iron Man has Iron Monger, which Maisel says is well known to fans of the comic. However, that villain is not well known to the public at large and was not prominent in the marketing campaign. That Iron Man lacked this component makes its opening all the more impressive.
Michelle Monaghan and Patrick Dempsey in Made of HonorAlso opening nationwide was Made of Honor. The romantic comedy was an attempt to counter-program Iron Man, replete with a well-worn wedding gimmick like 27 Dresses earlier this year. Lacking a strong female lead, the nearly $40 million production fared in the average range among wedding movies, grossing an estimated $15.5 million on around 3,300 screens at 2,729 venues. Distributor Sony's research indicated that 68 percent of the audience was female and 62 percent was over 25.
Among holdovers, Universal Pictures' comedies Baby Mama and Forgetting Sarah Marshall had standard drops. Baby Mama was off 41 percent to an estimated $10.3 million for $32.3 million in ten days, while Forgetting dipped 44 percent to an estimated $6.1 million for $44.8 million in 17 days.
Crumbling around 60 percent apiece were Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay and The Forbidden Kingdom. The Harold and Kumar sequel nabbed an estimated $6 million in its second weekend but, with a $25.3 million tally, it's exceeded the final tally of its predecessor by all measures. Forbidden Kingdom collected an estimated $4.2 million for $45.1 million in 17 days and is on track to have lower attendance than The Tuxedo among past similar movies. Indicative of the general weakness of recent movies, no wide release held well in the face of Iron Man and the smallest drop was posted by Nim's Island, down nearly 40 percent.
