Default the Photography of Michael Bay

Michael Bay once casually mentioned in an interview that he'd like to travel the US taking pictures and maybe publish a photography book. Is anyone else beside me interested in seeing a collection like that? Even if it were a pull-out for an Art of TF book of photos he took while traveling on location I'd be interested.

Maybe when TF2 is finished he'll have some spare time for this. (After napping for a few weeks on a beach somewhere!)

I heard about the passion of Mr. Bay taking photos. I am interested in seeing his work.

I'd happily buy a posh, over-sized art book. I love photography.

RQ: I buy all the time -- for others. The book you described would be a good thing to send to just about anyone (I'm always on the hunt for such things). Reminds me, I need to go shopping for an old boss who recently got a new gig (well, got to send a card w/something saying congrats -- thinking something about cars, but we'll see...I'm not so good at this sort of purchases).

A book with just photographs.. hmm not really my style but if I found some "posted images" off the web I might take a look, otherwise

    thats just not my thing.

I would definitely buy it. Just the fact he's mentioned it sounds very interesting. Michael has an amazing eye. I think what a book like that would do is to convince people who just think Michael is about explosions and mayhem realise what a visual artist he actually is.

What would you consider to be expensive? An over-sized (9 x 11 or 12 inches) hardcover for about $40? That's about as high as I would figure.

Which is funny because I wouldn't buy that. That would be up in the $70 range, which even I would balk at. I also don't care for the "prestige volume" concept. I don't care about leather, LEs or signatures (unless it's something I obtained in person). I want something for the coffee table that is completely graphics-oriented, hip, sexy and fun. Lots of color, too. Color-saturation is the best part. I think $40 is the absolute high end on this. The individual Playboy HCs range for the most part from $16.95-$50. Edit to add that yes, there are some special $100-$500 dollar editions and collected editions, but they don't do half as well as the others. (Which I've checked. The Playboy books are published by an editorial department at Chronicle Books I used to intern for so, in case you can't tell, I've given this a great deal of thought. )

Although, as a wise man once said, this (meaning this conversation) is all purely academic.

    Yes.

And $20 isn't a high enough price point. You can't achieve anything decent at $20.

I'd also like to see it in wide digital photo frames or backlit picture frames.

For some reason you just gave me the image of Shia standing up out of the sunroof with his arms out eyes closed smiling "Wwweeeeeeeeeee!"

    Couldn't you imagine that?

In print, like electronics, you get what you pay for.

The majority of photography books I've seen, the printing is horrible. While the photos might look nice, they are horrible transfers of the original. Plus, the paper and materials are low quality.

One of the few photo books that I've seen that is a perfect print and quality material is CyCLoPs by Albert Watson.

That said, I think if Michael would publish a book, it would be something of good quality which means paying more than average.

Little Brown. Very nice. I'd save my pennies for that...
