This bitch (and I mean that with all sincerity) decides to attack me in one of my livejournal communities when I simply posted that I witnessed a woman breast-feeding her child in a public food court when I was in Jacksonville one weekend.

I posted about how that's a wee bit inappropriate, and she calls me (and I quote) "You've yet to give me a logical reason why she should hide to feed her child, and until you can, you're just going to come across as immature."

My logical reason: there's a time and a place to breast-feed your child and a food court in the middle of a crowded mall is not one of them.

Thoughts? Agree? Disagree? Anyone?

I don't have an issue of a woman doing that where she feels (per se'), but it's one of those "lack of common courtesy to others" type of thing that I do take issue with. If your gonna whip it out at least make me think (humor me) that you are considerate of others around that might feel that it is akward to catch that while eating their burger. Cover up if you don't wanna move, at least it shows you are trying. If that militant b**ch needs a reason, tell her that there shouldn't be one. I don't adjust my pants in front of her face, I politely do it somewhere else or do it where she can't see. Out of common f**king courtesy.

Don't get me started with parents in a restaurant that let junior scream while trying to have a nice quiet dinner.

Here's what I don't get. This chick attacks me for saying this and says that "I need to grow the fuck up." Excuse moi....but the woman could have gone out to her car to do this OR not even bring the baby to the mall.

A couple of friends of mine who are Moms just went through a row with MySpace because the site had locked up some woman's pictures with her child for being "pornographic." (I do think that's a little overboard myself)

Totally disagree with you, but I hardly think you are immature. At the very WORST you might call it an over bearing since of modesty. But I wouldn't even say that.

then again, you could say I am not modest enough. remember, I'm the guy that doesn't see a problem with going number 1 outside.

Umm.. well this can go a number of ways.. To some people it might be gross.. and make them not want to eat their food because the sight disgusts them.. (Just like how some mothers change their kids in public like that.. now THATS worse than breast feeding.. for goodness sake theres always a bathroom nearby they can change their kids in where its acceptable to do something like that)... to some people it might be a sexual thing to see a womans breast in public like that and the sucking and well.. I think you know what I'm trying to say there.. some guys like that sort of thing.. and then theres other people that think its acceptable for mothers to do that. Myself.. I don't believe its an acceptable thing. If they want to breast feed at home.. thats fine.. In public.. bring a bottle.. if they want them to be nursed on only breast milk.. buy a breast pump and pump it out for use at the food court... I think that the person should find a place other than a food court to feed her child.Although she has a right to do so anywhere.It should be deemed as "rude" because of the location.Almost every mall has some type of seating(benches)located throughout them somewhere.Other than the food court.She should consider those who do not want to eat looking up and away.That should be considered a private act between mother and child.If bonding and breast-feeding become a "natural" issue.Even in old times.Women did not do this at the dinner table.Did they?

I think people get it twisted by looking at it this way: If not because of feeding exposing a breast would get a chick in trouble. (depending on the officer) So I guess IMHO that's where the line is.

Honestly, you may want to tell her to watch out because (and I say this with all sincerity and honesty) there may be a sexual predator out there waiting for someone who is open to doing things like this.

You never know who you're around and this somewhat entices them.

Just some thoughts...if they made sense.
