I'm sorry is it not possible at all that the film was handed to Emmerich <one of the worst directors working today> BECAUSE Bay wanted to do TF2 instead? That's been my assumption since the Emmerich "switch" happened.

Just like Deep Impact talked about an asteroid coming wipe out Earth, like Armageddon.

uh...yea.. 2 different movies with 2 different titles. 2012 being used in both titles? Not likely, sorry. No, to me i read all this as the same film, with a new director.

Sounds like Deep Impact, and Armageddon all over again. I wonder if one company will change the name of their movie to avoid confusion

or Volcano/Dante's Peak, Antz/Bug's Life, what else was there? Universal Soldier had a sequel in theatres and DTV, and i hear rumor LA Confidential is about to do the same, a true sequel and a "spin off" movie of sorts? Like US Marshalls was to the Fugitive.

when i see the sites i use, Chud or AICN, talk about them as seperate films, i'll believe it then. They were the first sites to run the stories, but i've yet to see them mention Bay's project again since they first covered it pre-Transformers, and they've run mulitple stories on the Emmerich film. Those are the films sites i trust <CHUD far more than AICN, any day> so i'll wait to see what they have to say.

I personally never found either film that interesting of a concept, if they are indeed 2 seperate films. I hope the Bay film will end up dying off so Emmerich can roll out his next worthless movie. I hate that man's films almost as much as i hate Paul WS Anderson's or Uwe Boll's films.

Then how horrible is it of me that i enjoyed the first AvP more than Alien-Resurrection. Trust me, i am NOT apologizing for that, A-R was the WORST in ANY Alien related franchise. Predator 2 remains one of my only "guilty pleasures" that i've actually bought, and love.

Funny how ya say that, since R's link talked about Deep Impact and Armageddon and their showdown etc.. etc.... I saw it talked about the day after tomorrow... now that movie made me cringe more about what might actually happen. I mean goodness.. an ice age all over again? Thats just craziness... The whole Deep Impact and Armageddon stories weren't as realistic to me. I've heard the whole 2012 the world is gonna end theory before, and to be honest.. who knows... at first people said it was gonna be the year 2000 that all that happened.. then their like 2012.. then they said 2020.. so.. I dunno.. I'm just gonna keep living my life.. and if I die.. oh well.. guess thats the end.. not gonna get all worked up about it just because some dead guy said so.
