That's ridiculous. The Golden Compass? Are you serious? The movie didn't do anything groundbreaking. We saw the same stuff in Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and like twenty other movies over the last couple years. I would have even taken At World's End over Golden Compass. Davy Jones visual effects were pretty awesome. But come on. That's just fuckin' bullshit. The effects in Transformers were like the effects in Jurassic Park and T2... Groundbreaking. Stuff you haven't seen before.

This is just monumental, just like the Patriots Super Bowl XLII loss. I mean I wouldn't have minded Transformers losing to Pirates cuz I like that movie just as much as Transformers. I saw the Golden Compass and wasn't all that impressed with the CGI. It wasn't even a hit. Usually the CGI awards go to the highest grossing film. So hard to believe.

Guess we'll have to wait until Transformers 2. Usually the second one in the series wins it, like Spider-Man, Pirates, and Terminator off the top of my head.

Honestly, I lost faith in the Academy a long time ago...but I don't remember what the deciding factor was.

Bourne Ultimatum for best sound editing? I don't mind that one too much. It was a great movie that had some great sound. But Transformers had some great sound editing, too.


And it loses to Bourne for best sound mixing, too. Damn.


Oh well, it's really best visual effects that really pisses me off. The others are a little tougher to call.
