    Default DVD making help

So my family wants to burn every single family video ever shot on DVD's. I've been tasked with this job. I want to know what good enthusiast level programs there are for taking the footage once digitized and being able to make menu screens and all that jazz once it's burned onto a dvd. thanks!

Just about any convert to dvd program lets you set up chapters and menus. I can't recommend a good one except convertxtodvd because thats all I use. It may not be extravagant but it gets the job done and is easy to use. pm me if you want it

A good site is afterdawn.com to search for a lot of burning and converting programs/guides.

Well, my little brother is the computer nerd in the family. My computer knowledge is limited

I suppose nero will work well for you, but I've only ever used "Image Mixer" that came with my sony hdd (hard disk drive) cam. You can add photos for backrounds, and add your own music to each menu /sub menu page.

This program won't convert files to dvd....you'll have to find something else for that

Well I know that there are authoring programs, but i would have to make my own buttons and menus and icons and all t hat jazz...and i cant physically do those things. I know some enthusiast level editing programs have pre made dvd menu templates that are really good....I know of one I used to use, I just cant remember the name..and it's killin me haha

Vegas, Nero lets you do it all. You can set the background picture, you can add title menus and others. Prolly was Nero 7.

    Mac or PC?

If Mac, iMovie and iDVD--which come free with the Mac--could do the job. Also, an external hard drive might help.

    iMovie is AWESOME!!!!
    I'm a dog chasing cars. I don't know what I'd do if I caught one. I don't have plans. I just do things. I'm not a schemer.

I use a knife because guns are too quick. Otherwise, you can't savor all the emotions. You know who people are in their last moments.

I believe whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you... stranger.

    depends.

Definetly mac though, but if you have expeirience, use one of Final Cut's apps. They're amazing. If you're just staring up with DVD making, use idvd

If you really want to get customized and know what you're dealing with in software, use Adobe's Illustrator. I've done that a few times, and while it takes a little longer to make, if you want it to look good- it's certainly a good option.
    This is Ferngully, bitch!
