Yea, i was going to skip the Island altogether when a friend asked me to go with him to see it. I said, aw hell it's Bay so i'll go. I ended up loving it for the updated/remake of Logan's Run/THX 1138 that it was.

I have to kindly disagree with most of you guys. I love that scene! The logo coming down was just stunning and cool. But I'm an action movie freak, so I like all things action. I absolutely love The Island, almost as much as I love Transformers. The Island probably has the best score from any Michael Bay film. And the final song "My Name is Lincoln" is simply beautiful.

It's a shame The Island failed at the box-office. I was really hoping for a huge success.

It deserves more credit than it has gotten.

My theory is, it came out at the wrong time.

Actually, DreamWorks' ad campaign was laughably bad, with few if any ads until right before its release, and even then the ads really didn't explain much.

None of my friends even knew it was coming out or had any idea what it was about.

Look at how the same film did in South Korea, where it was one of the biggest films of the year.

I'm convinced that if Warner Brothers had done the US marketing it would have fared much better.

Honestly...I had no idea this movie was coming out until I saw something one day on TV with Bay, Scarlett and Ewan at the premiere. I was like "what the fuck...Bay has a new movie out." At this point though, I was only a passing Bay fan....didn't follow his work as closely as I do now at the time. I don't remember EVER seeing this movie advertised. Never saw one thing other then that 'Extra' feature at the premiere.

I'm pretty much in the same boat on this one. I never heard anything about it in any types of ads, and then boom.. it was out on DVD. My buddy had it and I'm like.. uhh.. whats this.. he told me it was pretty good and to watch it. I didn't even know it was a Bay film let alone know who Bay was or what other films he did. I didn't know who he was until Transformers was being produced by him. When I saw the movie, I actually thought it was a pretty good movie. It kind of seemed to go along the lines of "The Sixth Day" with Arnold Schwartzennager as far as clones go. But I liked it alot. Now I'm actually looking to get all of Bays' movies on Blu Ray. Sadly, the only one of his movies that have made it there is "The Rock".

Here the movie worked fine (well, $127M overseas in front of the $35M at the States) and the ad campaign was more or less average.

I enjoyed the film very much the first time i saw it, i end totally exhausted, but not tired or bored, exhausted as if i had been running for 2 hours.

Then i re-saw it several times and it's one of my fav. Bay movies, and one of my fav. in general.

Is it? I guess I skipped that one.. I'll have to see if Amazon has it. (I guess I was looking up movies that I don't already have on DVD since Pearl Harbor and Transformers are his only 2 movies I have of his at the moment)

I knew it was coming out too, but look who's message board I'm on. I thought it had a lot of strong points. The visuals where great, really good score. Production design rocked. Great car chase. "ScarJo" But, the Wasp bike sceen and the R killed it for me. The Wasp stuff works on the freeway, and into the building, but then all the flying around buildings stuff just looks bad. If it wasn't for the WASP stuff and the R it would be great. Oh, and more of the Cien.

I will say it has some of the best cinematography in recent memory. Delicious visuals, and i'm not talking about "ScarJo"'s deliciousness.

I wish Sean Bean had more scenes. Man, what a powerful actor that is. Love his voice too.
