Listen to Optimus Prime's speech at the beginning of the movie. He said Cybertron was consumed by death, but not completely destroyed. It's the equivalent of, say, Earth being ravaged by nuclear war. Human civilization would pretty much be terminated, but the planet itself would keep going. Same situation here; Cybertron still exists, albeit as a near-lifeless husk.

As for that summary, I have a suspicion "Scorponok" is meant to be Soundwave, but we'll see...

Thats the problem... we dont know that the ending with them dropping Megatron into the ocean wasnt a fake shot. You know how the government tries to cover up stuff. That very well could have been staged being countless people seen the final battle go down and you know it was on the world news... what isnt any more. The opening of the next movie may very well show Megatron and some of the other dead Decepticons in a holdind facility somewhere and not in the ocean. Megatron never lost an arm or a leg in the battle but yet the Megs that was dropped in the water had missing body parts. How do you know it wasnt a replica the military made just to throw off lets say... other countries that might want his tech. Come on people the U.S military in the movies or real life would never just throw away tech like that even if it has the power to destroy the world. Just my two cents.

I would think the medical or science officer would handle reviving anyone (Ol' Meggietron).I my self agree with you on maybe Scorponok being Soundwave.He did collect intelligence and tracked the team in Qatar.Why cant he change like Bee did?The story they are putting out sounds like something someone wants everyone to expect.Suspect to me?Something smells fishy here.It aint the anchovies either......*sniff*sniff*sniff(come ta think of it, maybe its the pizza...... or its cause i took off my socks)Oh well eat the pizza without socks on anyways..

Maybe people join with the Decepticons, just like a couple of bad eggs in the cartoon. Maybe a private engineering company retrieves the Decpeticons bodies from the Laurentian Abyss to conduct research, which goes horribly wrong...

As Nelson showed in another thread with a clip of Bay talking about the movie.. he made it sound as if his computer information was much more secure this time, hinting on none of the actual plots being leaked out into the public.

If you listen to Primes speech, he stated that the Decepticons destroyed anyone who opposed them, and that the world was consumed in war. This doesn't mean Cybertron was destroyed. It means the whole planet was at war. If anything, most of the planet is left in ruins but from the way it sounded to me.. its still there.

Well and to add to what everyone else is saying, from a more technical standpoint, sypnoses usually aren't written like this. They're much more condensed and do just enough to leave the audience on a big cliffhanger before actually going to see it.

*knowledge bomb* Nothing humans posses is able to destroy the planet. If we put the biggest nuclear bomb or lots of them on the Earth and blew them up it would only move the axis or shift its position only slightly. And I'm talking no bigger than an inch. Humans wouldn't even now it had moved. Our perception of the earths axis is not keen enough to notice. The Earth will laugh at us and watch us die of radiation (same thing with global warming).

I think and read about it a lot since I've been writing scripts for my comics. Scientist already know what kind of power it would take and its interesting to read the theory's. I don't want to get into it much and hi-jack the thread but the force to destroy the planet is something along the lines of the sun going nova. Look it up, its interesting.

On topic - I don't believe this synopsis. It seems put together when the first movie was made.
