I was just poking about on the internet looking for news like I usually do and OH MY GOD I TOTALLY BY ACCIDENT CAME ACROSS THE TRAILER THEY SHOWED AT SDCC FOR FRIDAY THE 13TH and that baby was GONE poof! even before I could say all the bits of this sentence in caps and send to link to ANYBODY else.
It looked like fun, though, there were was a nice jump! moment, and the audience seemed to enjoy it. (although the nerd prom crew does tend to be cynical bunch.)
poster!
Edit: Defamer.com is waving is it around on the very top of their website right now. Please bust on them if that's the appropriate response and not me. I'm just having fun and spreading the love.![]()

Rosemary's Baby is off, The Birds is on.
I'm bummed about RoBaby but hey, at least The Birds is on!

I like that their will be a "Birds" films. A lot can be done with that even if its not really like a remake per say. But platinum Dunes needs to be careful, I just caught the unborn and well...They need to be careful. Horror is a tough genre thats filled with all types of land minds. We know Platinum Dunes can win over audiences but the critics seem to hammer there films, I fear for the first time they might have been right with the Unborn. I respect the work that goes into any film but the Unborn lacked heart and enthusiasm and left a bad taste in my mouth about company. they hold like a 5.6 average on IMDB and about a 36 percent on rotten tomatoes. Now Im sure on paper the scripts read well, but something about their films are a bit off. Their edits are a little incoherent. Critics generally dont respond well to horror and i think all horrors have the same issue, they start fast and end fast and they a jumbled mess all the way through with bad edits and some rough and i mean ROUGH transitions. It feels liek theirs lapses in time, leaving nice holes when it comes to development. I think the way Horror is edited hurts the genre, companys liek to just cut to the cheap thrills and dump their 90 minute films in as many screens as possible.
The Butcherhouse Chronicles! It's set for 2010.
It's based on a stageplay from 2006. Here's an article about the director they've selected.

An article with some new info about the story for the new Freddy Krueger film. I felt it was a bit spoilery though, so watch out!

I watched them all back-to-back recently and to be honest, nothing PD could ever do or say about Freddy Krueger will baffle me more than Wes Craven's A New Nightmare. That film is a natural antecedent to the Scream movies (the self-analysis an' all), which I adore, of course, but just does one more odd thing to Krueger's story. He's a nut! He's a Dad! He's a dream demon! I think he's been tampered with and fought over more than any other movie psycho!
Acknowledging that all this story reveal could be false, I actually read about this a few days ago but I wanted it to sink in a little before I commented. What does changing that part of Krueger's history do for the character? For the kids he's after? I don't know, really. What I do know is that Freddy Krueger stands out as someone who really really enjoys being a psychopath. His murders were the most creative, most elaborate sequences in any of these films. (Halloween is more Hitchcock than horror! HEL-LO!) Based on this new info, he's still motivated, could still be deliciously insane, just for a slightly different reason.![]()

I'm no horror fan (except for Jason) but I'm loving Platinum Dunes. It's good to see a pool of talent being developed and guided by a seasoned professional. Reminds me of Spielberg's stable of dudes.
I would love to see more talent added to the roster and also PD expanding into TV. There are some really good looking and well directed TV shows (24, BSG, CSI, etc) but there can always be more, I see no reason why it can't look much better, we have the technology, the talent has to be developed.

I think it just story! I don't make sure it will happened future!
First half of your post: My thoughts exactly.
Second Half: I wonder if it will serve to reign in the more cartoon-y aspects of the sequels, and stick to more of a mind-freak like the first. Although, I don't see being wrongfully accused/crucified for the crimes as being a direct correlation with coming back as a nutcase and killing with style. It seems it would be more channeled towards straighforward revenge on Kreuger's part. But then again, maybe it could act as the catalyst that awakens the sleeping giant (that being Krueger's latent insanity).
I was thinking that maybe what will happen is that Krueger is totally repressed while he's alive, and then go all out crazy on the kids after his dead. It makes me wonder if Haley won't go for it because its ground he's already covered in Little Children (repressed sex offender). He's already mentioned that the heavy make-up is off-putting as well. Ah well...

Just watched The Hitcher remake and I feel it's a completely unnessacery remake. I mean, when they do a remake of a movie, the writers usually change some of the story and "revision" it... but here, the writers basically did a "copy/paste", it was exactly like the original, from scene to scene. So if you're gonna watch The Hitcher, watch the original. It's the best one.
Soooooo... according to the lovely and charming Mr. Fuller's Twitter there may be an *interesting* teaser in front of Zombieland.
Or so the internet tells me. It lies sometimes, tho.![]()

THE UNBORN was UNWATCHABLE
Horsemen by Platinum Dunes gets theatrical release in Japan this month. Has anybody seen this? How was it?
I really liked it. Creepy snow atmosphere and surprisingly good performance by Zhang Ziyi ( one particular scene with her really shocked me, you'll know when you see it ). Slick cinematography, engaging story, pretty good cast and it's an original movie, it's not a remake or a sequel.
Personally, I think "Horsemen" is a great mix between "Fargo", "A Simple Plan" and "Saw".
So my advice is - give it a shot![]()
Horsemen was suprisingly good and up there with "Silence of the Lambs", "Se7en" and "Saw" in terms of a good detective horror movie. But too bad it's the only PD movie to go direct to dvd.
"The Hitcher" i agree that the new one is inferior to the original masterpiece, why mess with something when it ain't broke? now "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was a fair remake to be honest but nothing beats the original. I still say "Friday The 13th" is their best remake ever.
Now not all horror remakes suck balls, you have to remember "The Thing", "The Fly", "Dawn of the Dead", "Night of the Living Dead", "Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1978", "Cat People", "The Hills Have Eyes", "Last House on The Left", "The Blob" and "The Ring" all awesome examples of horror remakes done right. I'm sure the new Elm Street should be ranked with them.
