Default The Infinity Gems [Marvel Movies]

So it's confirmed that the Aether from Thor: The Dark World is indeed the Reality Gem, while the Orb in Guardians of the Galaxy is the Power Gem.
Of course we already know the Cube's the Space Gem.

Then there's this article floating online with the theory that the crystal looking thing housed in Loki's staff is the Mind Gem. This theory was backed by the argument that Loki was able to mind-control say for example Dr. Selvig, Hawkeye, and numerous SHIELD agents in the Avengers movie with the use of it.

It appears that the staff, called the Chitauri Scepter was a gift from Thanos. It was what also allowed Loki to control the Cube to open a gateway for the Chitauri army to enter our planet. It was also what gave Loki the ability to control the Chitauri army. It seems that it has several control properties.

"Subjects are placed under control of the scepter by placing the scepter on their chest for a moment, at which time their eyes momentarily turn black, then change to a blue color with no visible pupils."

The theory is believable. If true, this could be Marvel's biggest mind game on us yet concerning the Inifinity Gems. It could be the Mind Gem right before our very eyes and we still don't know it!

My personal speculation is that Thanos may already be in possession of one or two yet-to-be revealed Infinity Stones. That is why he appears unperturbed -- when the Cube was lost, when he gave Loki the Mind Stone (if its indeed the Mind Stone), and when Ronan threatened to come after him with the Orb (or the Power Stone).

Thanos may in fact be in possession now of the Soul and/or Time Stones!

Okay, so it seems that there has been a few counter-arguments posted online by some people in response to certain fan speculation that the crystal in Loki's staff is the Mind Stone.
The counter argument revolves around the precept that the the Space Stone (aka the Cosmic Cube) is blue. Hence the crystal in Loki's staff (which is also blue) cannot be another Infinity Stone, because there can never be two Infinity Stones of the same color!

BUT... I dug up a photo of the Infinity Gauntlet that was teased in the first Thor movie.

And guess what... there seems to be two blue stones in the gauntlet (the really big one in the middle, and a smaller one by the pinky finger!)

As for the other Stones... based on the gauntlet we could see that:

The Aether definitely goes to the middle finger, and the Orb to the thumb.

The pointer finger shows a green stone, while the ring finger shows a yellowish gold stone. So those are definitely the yet-to-be-revealed Soul and Time stones!

Just a slight correction to what I said earlier about the ring finger stone on the Inifnity Gauntlet being yelowish gold. It appears that the ring finger stone is actually Purple, upon closer look. So thats where the power of the Orb goes into, or at least it should.

I'm also starting to believe that the big blue stone in the middle of the Gauntlet is the Mind Stone, as it is what grants the wielder control over all the other stones -- as its main function is control over other things and beings.

If you rewatched Thor the Dark World, right when Odin was explaining to Jane Foster about the origin of the Aether he actually said -- not the exact wordings, but the same meaning -- he actually said that the Aether is the only Infinity Stone that is 'fluid.'

This means that the rest of the Infinity Stones are 'solid' gems, including the Mind Stone. This puts further strength behind the speculation that the stone in Loki's staff is the mind stone. Because that one is clearly a solid gem.

To further support my belief that the Eternal Flame is indeed the Soul Gem/Stone, let's go take a look at the T.H.A.N.O.S theory (it is a theory started by some internet dude which has become quite popular -- it states that each gem/stone is contained in a vessel that starts with a letter in "THANOS." So far the confirmed Infinity stones have been accurate:

T - Tesseract (The Cosmic Cube containing the Space stone)
    H - ?
A - Aether (The Liquid like substance that forms the Reality stone)
N - Necklace (The Eye of Agamotto amulet containing the Time stone)
O - Orb (The Sphere containing the Power stone)
S - Scepter (Loki's Weapon in Avengers part 1 containing the Mind stone)

Obviously the letter H is the only one missing. Now what do you call the floor of a fireplace? Hearth. And that's where the Eternal Flame burns.
