Why didnt the air force base use .50 cals against Blackout?

When Blackout attacks the air force base in qatar you can see the soldiers use SAW machine guns ontop of humvees against him so I was wondering why didnt they use .50 cals? The .50 cals have much more firepower and even though they probably wont even put a scratch on Blackout it would of showed the audience they really were firing all they got at him. In the special features you see .50 cals ontop of humvees firing at nothing but in the movie you dont actually get to see them close up and all the .50 cals scenes are basically edited out.

Probably because they didn't know what they were dealing with as of yet. They probably had the standard weaponry installed on the Humvees. Had they known ahead of time that there was this monster with a tougher metal they may have switched to the .50 cals to try to take him down. They had to learn what would even scratch their shells. Which is why the Scorponok scene was in there.

ultimatly 50. cal. wouldn't matterred on blackout...hopefully bay will go further into this insights on bots in details. Blackout was not only able to generate emp blasts like,iron hide...But as tyrese's character stated there seemed to be an invisible force field and the thing appearred to be looking right at him as he took the photo,showing it's self aware,and sentient.
