    Default Michael Clarke Duncan

I'm really bummed at losing such a great guy in my life today, Michael Clarke Duncan.

I gave him his first big movie role in Armageddon as Bear. We found him in a gym. He cried at the first audition because he was so proud to audition for a "Michael and Jerry movie", he just wanted to make his mom proud. We gave him the role in the room.

His first day on Armageddon he sucked. I remember looking to Ben Affleck and thinking we might need to fire him. But I told him "Mike, I hired you for you, I want the sweet, Mr Clarke Duncan I met in that room". I said, "the audience is going to fall in love with you".

He looked and smiled with deep voice and said "Ok".

From then on out he became the most improved actor on the set. That was the award he got at the end of the film. Everyone loved him, his infectious spirit and great belly laugh.

It was a great time I will always remember, how proud I was to watch him grow into an actor. Watching him study all the guys from Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck to Steve Buscemi, and Owen Wilson. When he said in the movie he " wanted to stay in the White House for the summer" he killed it. In his N.A.S.A. evaluation I told him to cry like a baby. He looked at me with his macho Duncan eyes and said "Mike I can't do that" I said "yes you can" and it became the biggest laugh in the movie.

I'm really sad to lose him. Rest in peace buddy.

Its always a sad day when good people die. You'll be missed with your bright smile, infectious laugh and wonderful voice.

    Rest in Peace.
If it's a good movie, the sound could go off and the audience would still have a perfectly clear idea of what was going on.

Most people will probably continue to remember Michael from THE GREEN MILE, but I'll always love his appearance in THE ISLAND, when he's chased down a corridor and then captured by a team of guards. There was something genuinely disturbing about the way he screamed "I'm going to the island! You promised!", as they dragged him away. It was a startling, emotionally powerful scene to come across in the midst of a popcorn summer blockbuster, all thanks to MCD's performance. In just two minutes, he gave the plight of the clones a real sense of pathos and dramatic weight.

    RIP, big guy.

    Here's the scene in question

It's not often that Roger Ebert gets quoted here approvingly, but he wrote almost the same thing you did:
Michael Clarke Duncan has only three or four scenes, but they're of central importance, and he brings true horror to them

Wow! So so sad!! Truly one of my favorite actors. Anytime I saw him in a movie or on tv. He had that charisma that let you know that he was genuinely a sweet and caring person.
As soon as I saw that headline on tv, I came straight here knowing that MB would have a great story about him.

Wow, Kevin Pollack. Just wow. A minor incident a decade ago and you'll trash the man right after his death. Way to go.

Don't think I'll buy your book, brother.

How'd you dig this up, Bayhem? Because if a Google search is any indicator, Pollak's comments on Duncan didn't really make any headlines, and thank God they didn't.

Also, I really, really hate talk radio. I know stations dread having dead air, but sometimes I wish people on these shows would shut the f**k up so I can comprehend what they're trying to say.

Browsing YT for clips of Duncan in "The Whole Nine Yards" (love that movie). Found it by accident.

Both Pollack and Duncan are just not that "big" for mainstream sites. That's the sad truth. These days they only care about the Kardashians, Lohan, Amanda Bynes and Bieber (even though that's not the first time Pollack is blasting other folks in the industry). But since he's not "Kevin Kardashian" no one really bothers to write articles about his comments.
