I'm not real sure how I feel about this. Judging (haha) by this trailer, it seems like this movie is taking itself way too seriously. I never read the comics, so that's probably why I enjoyed the first Dredd movie more than most. It was cheesy, but still entertaining.

It does look good. While I am interested in it,I don't know if I'm interested enough to see it in the theaters. I will probably wait to see what the majority of the reviews say.

I'm not real sure how I feel about this. Judging (haha) by this trailer, it seems like this movie is taking itself way too seriously. I never read the comics, so that's probably why I enjoyed the first Dredd movie more than most. It was cheesy, but still entertaining.

I've read the comics and collected them since the 80s as a kid and i did liked the 1995 effort but this looks more faithful to those very cool sci-fi comics and i have them in trade paperback including Batman and Judge Dredd crossovers.

Karl Urban looks terrific for the part.

I can't believe that this movie made only $6 milion in it's first weekend after all the positive reviews and opinions. I still haven't seen it but I wonder what went wrong with this. Obviously Dredd is not as popular in the US as they (the studio) thought.

Anyway, I'll just quote Box Office Mojo: "Dredd's awful performance is the latest example of how the Comic-Con/online fanboy crowd just doesn't make up a large portion of the moviegoers in this country. The movie came out of its Comic-Con screening in July with tons of online buzz and very strong reviews, and it maintained a 100 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes through at least its first 25 reviews (though it ultimately wound up at a more-reasonable 77 percent). As a result, the fanboy audience was very aware of this movie ahead of release, and anticipation seemed to be pretty high among this group as well. Ultimately, though, it's just not a big-enough group to drive strong business."


Yet another example that these "fanboys", who most of the time cry all over the internet, are in reality just a small group of folks who don't influence anything outside the web. Remember that S4TE, and don't get mad when some militant Ninja Turtles fans and Transformers fans come here to bash Bay's projects. These people don't matter. At all.

I always say to the hard core TF fans (who don't like Michael's take on the franchise) to be grateful to him for making this franchise even more popular because of the mass audience orientation. Because of Michael the franchise is still breathing. The fans are having new anime TV shows, new toys and new video games because of Michael. If the studio hired a director to do a TF movie mainly for the fans then we would have never seen anything beside TF 1 as is the case with Dredd. So people should think outside the box sometimes. But of course this rarely happens.

By "vastly" you probably mean 100 or 200 more (crazy) people. They're certainly not millions. Millions are the ordinary folks around the globe who gladly pay to watch "Transformers" on the big screen and don't whine like little girls that Optimus has flames.

Fanboys don't matter. That's a simple fact. "Dredd" is just one of the many examples supporting that fact. If they mattered Paramount would've said a long time ago: "Bay, the fanboys on the web think you're the Devil and the worst filmmaker in history. And because of their influence we don't want to have your name on our projects. Please leave. We will hire Nolan and Whedon because fanboys seem to like these guys."

No. By "vastly" I mean the number of Transformers fans around the world vastly outnumber the Dredd fans. Period. And the difference is probably in the millions. I don't think this box office number had anything to do with fanboys. This is what happens when you do a reboot on a not-really-all-that popular comic book character starring a not-all-that well known actor....The vast majority of the regular movie going public had never heard of Dredd before the Stallone movie, and he's the only reason people saw that one in the first place. Go ask a random person if they know who Karl Urban is, and they'll give you a dumbfounded look.

Actually, that's not a bad idea. Dumb fanboys...

Anyway, I stick to what I said - they don't matter in terms of how the movie's being made and who's the director and who's the leading man. Bay said that he was listening to the "fans", not the "fanboys". There's a huge difference between the two.

Fans are people like Sora who are passionate about "Transformers" but who are very much aware and intelligent enough to realize early on that Bay and his team will definitely change certain things - they accept that and they hope for the best results. Fanboys on the other hand are just angry all the time and extremely obnoxious. The second they hear the word "change" and they go nuts - they start with death threats, insults, forum attacks, you name it.

In this case they've been against Bay since Day 1. And they'll always be against him no matter what. They're just built that way.

Fans...fanboys. You know what I'm tired of?

Freakin' labels, why do we keep using them? Humans are too diverse and complex to lump crowds of people into the "fan" and "fanboy" category. While I believe there are folks out there that need to cool their engine blocks every now and then, some folks have legitimate arguments and concerns every now and then.

Like the Ninja Turtles thing, not all of that complaining is fueled by mere "Baytred." Some TMNT fans are probably Michael Bay fans as well, but don't wanna see the Ninja Turtles as aliens. Even though I'm not a TMNT fan, I kinda don't wanna see them as aliens either. There, I admitted it!

As for Dredd...I thought the poor box office performance had something to do with just poor marketing??? Seriously, I never even knew this movie existed until very recently, like...a month ago...recently.

I hope this movie does well internationally and hope the people would get the Blu-ray too. It deserves a sequel. Here are some good reasons why!
