I think all fans of videogames will see "Wreck-It Ralph". Have to say, it's a pretty interesting idea for an animated movie.
Here's the first official trailer:
Thoughts, S4TE?

"You know why the departures and the arrivals at LAX are on separate levels? So the 30,000 heartbreakers that come here each month don't notice the 30,000 that are leaving with their hearts broken."
Roger Rabbit-style roll call of vg characters. I'm in.
Yes. Hell yes. Absolutely hell to the freakin' yes.
I was really interested when I was first reading about it. I am now officially sold.
You can even play Felix Fix-It Jr.

"You hit a guy with glasses..."
Well played indeed.
I'm definitely seeing this in 3D. Some of the folks around me have already branded it as "too kiddy", but I honestly don't care. I think it's a very original idea and I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully it's not gonna be the next "Mars Needs Moms" (in terms of box office performance).

Doesn't look "too kiddy" to me. I'm sure there will be some stuff in it for mom and dad to laugh at...if you know what I mean. But if you notice, most of the cameo appearances of real life video game characters have their origins from the arcade. If you've been to an arcade, the games can get pretty intense, but overall they're mostly family friendly. And considering this movie takes place in an arcade...yeah. But that's alright, as long as you have a great story.
I hope this movie does great, and I think it will. It's in a good time slot for box office performance, and even has Oscar potential. But I'm not gonna count my chickens just yet. Besides, I'm seeing this movie for the sake of seeing a good movie.
Oh, I know a thing or two about arcade games...
I certainly know what to expect.
I also know why some of co-workers don't have a lot of faith in "Wreck-It Ralph" (hence the "too kiddy" comment). It's simple - it's not a Pixar production. It's only Disney and when it's only Disney some people think it's only for the kids. Which is not fair and just goes to show that these days people expect "quality" animation for all ages only from Pixar. I bet if this was a Pixar movie it would've been much more famous and it would've been a sure candidate for the next Oscars.
But it's not a Pixar movie and because of that some people will probably ignore it. It was pretty much the same thing with "Mars Needs Moms" - a very expensive Disney film that is now known as one of the biggest flops of all time. Don't think the same will happen to "Wreck-It Ralph" though. Wouldn't be a huge "Toy Story"-type hit, but it wouldn't be a flop either.
Personally, I think it'll end up in the middle. Enough for a sequel.![]()
