(PD-YSR) Platinum Dunes - Your Selected Remakes

Hey guys,

I was thinking these last few days about movies that were great when i was younger and that could use a remake IMHO and i thought about Platinum Dunes's awesome remakes (except for Nightmare On E. was least IMO) and thought it might be a good idea to share your selection of movies that you think were great but could be better in the hands of Platinum Dunes..

My picks are..

- Warlock 1 and 2

And..

- Arachnophobia

I had some terrible uber creepy nightmares of these movies for years after that lol and they are not that scary anymore because i thought they were much more brutal but they really look lamé now haha REMAKE IS NEEDED! IMO...
Arachnophobia is gonna be freakin sweet in 3D i tell ya! XD mwahahaha!!

Arachnophobia doesn't need remaking in any shape or form. In fact, I believe unless the world needs some kind of social commentary that is relevant to the time, then maybe a remake is warranted (They Live, Animal Farm). Otherwise, it's lazy and just cashing in. Aside from that, lets have something original.

This thread is for people who do want certain movies to get a great original remake by PD, it's not gonna be a discussion about if remakes are good or bad.

I don't really see how it's that off topic. PD is not known for doing great original remakes for any good reason. It's not like they've pulled a The Departed or The Thing (JC version) out of the bag. The Hitcher is a perfect example of a film that didn't need remaking and also being diabolical.

I'm just not quite sure why you'd want PD to remake a film.

Yeah it is off topic i don't want negative comments here about that all remakes are bad i've heard enough of that BS talk, certain movies could use a remake and thats why i created this thread which ones you wanna see a remake of and sharing your view on that certain movie title etc.

And if your gonna give PD negative feedback then be man enough to explain why so they can pick up on this.

When you post a thread it's normal to expect that not everybody will say what you like. You can't just tell the people what they can and can not say in it. It's kinda democracy you know.

Well sir, I'm not sure if you remember it but I posted a topic a couple of years ago titled 'Platinum Dunes Discussion'. It was all about how I thought it was lazy and unoriginal they were. Then someone mentioned they had started original work so I took back some of my negative comments. So have a look at that.

I just find it disappointing that someone would want a company to remake a film. It feels like that's all the company should be for. Out of all their remakes, I don't think any of them apart from Amityville were any good, but for sure none of them were needed.

I understand what you've intended with this thread, but the idea of a whole thread of remake this remake that is a little worrying. This is just my opinion, but when the first film mentioned is Arachnaphobia, well I can't see any good reason why that needs to be remade. The only thing that could be improved is the FX. But then, what's the point in that - the spider 'actors' were awesome to begin with. Why repeat ourselves. Lets remake The Frighteners or The Fugitive or even Jaws, for no real reason.

For example, if it was something like They Live, then it sparks a cool discussion on how screwed up people are in the world and that a film is good to show people.

As for the 'man enough bit', chill out dude, I'm just a guy from Wales on the internet.

I searched the forums first (as it is obligated in the forum rules) for a Platinum Dunes thread so i could say what i wanted but there were none, sorry if i didn't read your PD thread from years ago my sincere apologies.. i will look it up to see what your thoughts are.

Yes this is what i want, something that sparks a cool discussion on here, re-makes do not have to be negative in any way as long as it's brought in a original and good way.

You guys had a few points on my picks now you guys can share yours..

And yeah PD is also not obligated to only do remakes, maybe i also should have created a thread for original movies at the same time...
