Default Battlestar Galactica : Blood and Chrome

    http://www.tvguide.com/News/Battlest...y-1045135.aspx

Sorry, Battlestar Galactica fans, but you'll have to continue waiting for the next fleet of Cylons to return to TV.
Syfy has decided not to pick up the highly anticipated prequel series Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome, the network confirmed Wednesday.
All is not lost though: the series could air on the Web!

"Though the vision for Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome has evolved over the course of the past year, our enthusiasm for this ambitious project has not waned," Mark Stern, Syfy's president of original programming, said in a statement. "We are actively pursuing it as was originally intended: a groundbreaking digital series that will launch to audiences beyond the scope of a television screen. The 90-minute pilot movie will air on Syfy in its entirety at a future date."

Blood & Chrome, set in the 10th year of the First Cylon War, follows the recent Academy graduate, a young William "Husker" Adama (Luke Pasqualino), when he's assigned to the Galactica, the newest battlestar in the Colonial fleet.

Excitement for the series' possible pickup has led throngs of fans to check out the unauthorized trailer for Blood & Chrome that's hit the Internet.

Are you disappointed the series won't air on Syfy?

^^^That was from an article done yesterday.

    This is from this morning...http://blastr.com/2012/03/battlestar-blood-chrome-w.php

If you've been wondering what's up with Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome, the project that focuses on young William Adama and reveals how the world of Battlestar Galactica was born, Syfy has announced its future plans.

According to Mark Stern, President, Syfy Original Content and Co-Head, Universal Cable Productions:
Though the vision for Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome has evolved over the course of the past year, our enthusiasm for this ambitious project has not waned. We are actively pursuing it as was originally intended: a groundbreaking digital series that will launch to audiences beyond the scope of a television screen. The 90-minute pilot movie will air on Syfy in its entirety at a future date.

    Damn!
So they will air the 2 hour pilot and then the series is doomed. What future does a series have when it's only showed on the web.

One thing I like about this is I would be able to watch it at my leisure. I wouldn't have to be up,set my DVR or whatnot to watch it. I do most of my TV watching online at home when I get off from work at 7am anyhow.

Plus they would be able to keep track of how many views it gets as opposed to wondering how many people that aren't a part of the Neilson(sp) ratings thing did watch it.

You're right but if a movie doesn't have a place where to be broadcasted then it will have a pretty small budget (this is important for a sci-fi series) and probably it'll be only one season.

t's been in the works for a while, and now we finally know when and how we'll get to see the eagerly anticipated Battlestar Galactica prequel Blood and Chrome. So what's up? The series will first roll out as a 10-episode web series on Machinima, broken up into 7-12 minute installments. If Machinima sound familiar, it should, as it was also home to the epic Mortal Kombat web series Legacy. The first episode goes live late this week on Friday, Nov. 9, with the rest breaking out over the next four weeks.
    But that's not all.
A two-hour movie version of Blood and Chrome will also air on Syfy in early 2013, followed by an unrated DVD release that will hit shelves soon after that.

Story-wise, the webisodes will follow young William Adama (Luke Pasqualino) during the first Cylon war. Young Adama will serve on the top-of-the-line (at the time) Battlestar Galactica, where he butts head with his co-pilot officer Coker (Ben Cotton).
Syfy programming president Mark Stern touted the multi-platform concept as a great way to grow the fan-favorite franchise:
"With its top-notch storytelling, pulse-pounding action, and cutting-edge visual effects, Blood & Chrome is the perfect extension of the Battlestar Galactica universe. We are thrilled to see this hotly-anticipated event premiere on Machinima, an online network that is unparalleled in its delivery of high-class digital content to millions of viewers."
Oh yeah, and an action-packed new trailer for the web series has also been released. Check it out below:

Though most Battlestar Galactica fans probably already checked out the prequel series Blood and Chrome when it debuted online last year, we’ve been waiting to hear exactly when the web series would formally debut on TV. Now we know.

The two-hour movie version of the series will debut at 9 p.m. on Feb. 10 on Syfy, featuring additional footage and scenes that were not included in the web episodes. Shortly after the TV premiere, the film cut will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and video-on-demand services on Feb. 19.

Set during the first Cylon War, Blood and Chrome followed a young William Adama (Luke Pasqualino) and a small team sent on a dangerous secret mission deep into Cylon-occupied space. The series was largely shot with green screen and relied heavily on effects work, which gave it a pretty unique look. It’ll be interesting to see how that translates from a computer monitor to a TV screen.

The series had been in development for a while, and Syfy teamed up with YouTube channel Machinima Prime to premiere weekly installments last year, which racked up more than 8 million views.
It had a very different vibe from Ronald D. Moore’s Battlestar series, and focused more on patriotism and action, as opposed to the slow boil of paranoia and political intrigue. It was a fun ride, and it’ll be great to finally see in on a big(ger) screen.
